Stylish pub in a beautiful part of the worldPosted Nov 7, 2013
Pros: Food. Decor. Everything.
Cons: One very minor point is that the pillows could have been better.
A one night stay en route from Yorkshire to the Lake Distict. An ideal stop-off point. Brilliant food, nicely decorated bar area, eating area and bedrooms, friendly staff. Just our kind of place.

A delightful place to stay.Posted Aug 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We w ere very satisfied - our room was cosy and very clean with plenty of fresh towels in the bathroom. We had wondered whether there might be noise from the pub below but we were not aware of any troublesome noise at all. The restaurant which provided us with very good meals at both dinner and breakfast was busy but the staff served us as quickly as they could - and apologised sincerely for delays due to the volume of customers. We hope to return.

Fantastic hotel, in a beautiful location. Helpful and friendly staff, good food, real ale and local rhubarb wine. WiFi & TV worked brilliantly.

The hotel was absolutely great. The rooms were large, beautiful and spotless. The food was excellent. The staff were amazing. We were staying with 2 very young children which was occasionally quite stressful but the staff did absolutely everything they could to help. They went out of their was to be helpful at every opportunity. I would recommend this hotel very highly.

Great weekend break hotelPosted Jul 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in a very quiet position. It is well presented throughout and no signs of any wear. Our room was a bit small but was still large enough. The food was excellent and the people very friendly. The only thing I would like to see is a larger selection of malt whiskies.

We couldn't fault any aspect of our stay. Although it was at the top end of our budget, what we got at the price was extremely good value. It is probably not suitable for families with young children but for anyone who wants a cosseted stay away from the rat-race it is ideal. The surrounding area is beautiful and not inundated with tourists so the roads are blissfully empty most of the time. Although not as rugged as the Lake District, the Eden Valley and surrounding moors and fells are just as dramatic and so far, unspoilt by commercialism. We will be back.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Kings Head ( on business)which offers first class food and an excellent range of real ales . I will be looking to book later in the year for a short stay with my wife. One small point if on business breakfast does not start to be served until 8.30.
