Better than expected.Posted Aug 3, 2014
Location: handy for the M6 (it's on it)
Had low expectations of somewhere next to the motorway (it is in a service station) but it was as good as it could be, definitely more of a hotel and less of a stopover. Location wise handy, which is why we booked it (for work, not holiday), room was big with excellent view but don't think they are all like this. Great staff, good breakfast, everything worked. Laid back which I liked, be aware that smokers and dogs are allowed, no problem with this but for some this could be a negative (or positive!).

Well Above Average for the Business TravellerPosted Jul 26, 2014
Pros: Location Friendly and Welcoming staff who actually look happy to be there! Free Wi-Fi Good 3G Phone Signals and Mobile Broadband on all networks
Cons: This new Ad-Hoc "seat of your pants" pricing is a nightmare. Sometimes the cost of the same room and stay can be double what it was the previous week
Location: Would be easier to say what you CAN'T do!. You are on the outskirts of the Lake District so there are hundreds of places to visit and lots to do
I used to stay at this Hotel on a regular (often fortnightly) basis a few years ago as it offered well above average accommodation. I liked its location, which gave a balanced mix of easy access with rural unspoilt views, which is a rare treat for anybody who spends weeks driving up and down the Motorway networks. But what I especially liked was the staff, as they are the entire backbone of this hotel and a credit to its Management, I can't say that i've ever had one negative experience, either previously or indeed during my recent stay, all of the staff are welcoming and friendly and look genuinely happy to welcome you and to check you in, without the fake smiles often painted on at the reception desks of the larger chains. So it was good to make a return to my 'home from home' as I make a return to the life of business travel, and I was happy to see that nothing had changed, and coincidentally i'd even been given my 'old' room back, where I had enjoyed many a happy stay previously. The hotel is generally reasonably peaceful, and even more so if you get an end of corridor room like mine, but in most rooms in the hotel its quiet enough to catch up on paperwork and emails. The rooms are well above a Premier Inn standard, and even the cheaper 'classic' ones are comfortable, spacious, well maintained and almost clinically clean, in fact all of the hotel is clean and comfortable. Wifi is available free of charge (The larger chains can learn a lot from this)

Good hotel by the M6Posted May 18, 2014
Pros: Staff were excellent and the rooms comfortable and clean. Location is very restful and although by the M6 it is isolated from it by its position.
Cons: WiFi would be a useful addition.
Location: Location is within country side with views of hills, and farm land. Penrith and Keswick in easy driving distance.
Our second visit to the Westmorland confirmed our view, that this hotel is very comfortable, rest full and a perfect stop on our way to and from visits to Scotland.

Great hotel with great viewsPosted May 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
Fantastic hotel with lovely rooms and great views. Location was ideal as it was off the M6 at the service station which made it a very convenient stop over point.

Ideal location for a stopoverPosted Apr 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had a beautiful room overlooking the hills which added immensely to the charm of the place. Facilities were very good, a couple of nice touches were some local spring water and a useful handbook created by the hotel about its history and the local area. The bed was extremely comfortable after a long drive from London! As we arrived late evening we decided to eat in the restaurant which was good, if somewhat limiting for a no meat diet. Local produce featured heavily which was good, a bit more dynamic with the menu and it would have been super. Again, very nice surroundings overlooking the hills and the pond by the large open glass of the dining area. Breakfast was a similar story, slightly chaotic but pleasant overall. Also worth mentioning is the farm shop which is well worth a visit before moving on.

Great experiencePosted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Food was so tasty (using local produce) and the room was spacious and clean. Perfect for our weekend away. When booking was worried about the location just off M6 but you can't hear any motorway traffic and wildlife around the hotel made it feel like a piece of haven. Will come back.

Excellent stopping point.Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Excellent food, incl. breakfast selection Large rooms Great lounge/bar areas Very little noise (despite near motorway)
Cons: Better vacuuming (lot of dog hair about)
Location: Recommened not just for an excellent motorway hotel. A good place to stay of iteself.
After a long day walking, great place to rest and chill out.

Heavenly HavenPosted Apr 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Westmorland is the perfect "stop over" in a long journey from the south of England to mid Scotland... refreshes the body (first class comfort all round + excellent food), mind (service is friendly & ultra efficient) & spirit (the views all round the hotel are sublime). And the 10% discount for the Aladdin's Cave that is the farmshop is the sweetest of icings on the delicious cake! :-) Thank you to all of you... we so enjoyed our fleeting visit.
