Nice hotel for short stay, nothing fancy.Posted Dec 5, 2013
Pros: location, relatively cheap
Cons: fridge in the rooms.
Location: centre of town. easy to get around
It is sort of a hotel for training young people (hence the name Academy Hotel), so that is great and very casual. Unfortunately no fridge in the room.. so, no water nothing..

Academy Hotel - PundaPosted Jul 1, 2013
Pros: The location and character.
Cons: WiFi was very weak, and only availble on the lobby floor.
Location: A short walk to the Mikve Isreal-Emanuel synagogue, Fort Amsterdam, Handelskade, Scharloo, and Otrabanda.
Very comfortable budget hotel. The location in the Punda is fantastic if you want to be in the heart of the historic district. The Mikve Isreal-Emanuel synagogue is right around the corner. Previous posters say that there are no TVs in the rooms, but this seems to have changed. My room had a TV; though there were limited English-language chanels available. The staff was pleasant and helpful. My departure was early on a Sunday morning. I asked the staff member at the desk to call a taxi for me, but when she did, we found out that it was too early and a dispatcher was not working yet. She offered to have a member of the staff drive me so that I didnt have to wait and potentially be late for my flight. I was very appreciative.

great location but priceyPosted May 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great location. The room was comfortable and quiet. There was no hot water and our room had no wi-fi. The members of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice. The room wasn't very clean. Specially the shower.

Good Location, clean, nice but terrible servicePosted Apr 8, 2013
This little hotel is very well located, close to the nightlife and restaurants, it is easy to find a parkng space by, and breakfast is really good. The rooms are comfortable, the AC works great and it is very clean. Important: The shower doesn't have Hot water.... which for us was ok cause it was so hot, but definitely something to keep in mind. For the price... awesome, would recommend and would even stay again. So whats wrong with this place? The Staff! Horribleeeee the front desk girls have not idea what they are doing... yes they are students.... but thats why they should try a little harder!!!! They are just waiting for their three months to end up to leave the hotel (they do a training of three months I believe) So you know... they don't get paid.. they don't care abut "the job" These were local girls, and they couldn't tell us how to get a map, where to go to buy anything, they didn't know about directions, rental car places... they were just careless....So if you're going to this hotel do your research and bring all you need cause the front desk is onyl there to give you your key..... Im guessing on sundays and holidays they won't clean your room either, just so you know.

Easy walking to markets, shops, restaurantsPosted Mar 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel's location was in the midst of the historic district. In spite of its downtown location, the room was very quiet and restful at night. The hotel itself was built in the 1800s and offers rooms with more character than most modern hotels. We had an early flight in the morning and the hotel staff provided a wake-up call and arranged an early (4:30 am) taxi to the airport. Because of our early departure, we missed the complimentary continental breakfast. It would have been nice to have access to a light snack and coffee before our departure. We were pleased with our choice to stay at the Academy Hotel and would do so again if staying in Willemstad.

Economical alternative to a full service hotel. Looks to be completely staffed by hotel administration students. Limited space, no hot water. Nice breakfast.
