“Best vacation ever!”
Beautiful room, amazing balcony view of the Caribbean. Our room had a stove and a small refrigerator Hotel beaches with comfortable chairs, luxurious towels, easy snorkeling. Unbelievable spa-again overlooking the blue Caribbean-with machines, separate gender steam & sauna, and outdoor whirlpool open until 9PM. The wonderful people in reception made several calls for us to make reservations for dinners, giving us directions, advice. The only minor problem was the ice availability-twice the ice container was empty. I would suggest renting a car to see the rest of the island- but the location allows you to walk into town.
“Fantastic Find”
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. A bit off the beaten path, but a quick 10 minute walk to Willemstad if you miss the hotel's shuttle. Great beach. Ok food. Nice rooms, particularly in the newer Octagon Wing. Primarily European vibe as most of the guests are Dutch. If you are an "ugly american tourist' dont' bother...
“We´ll be back there next time when Curacao is our destination!”
Pleasant and very relaxing. The hotel service is on a very high level. Starting from check-in all the way to check out. We have recommended Avila to many of or frinds already.
“Will definitely go back”
I travel on business on a regular basis to Curacao and usually stay at one of the large chain hotels on the island. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try out the Avila Hotel on my last trip and I was not disappointed. My room in the octagon wing was really sleek, clean and contemporary. Loved the frosted glass which the bathroom from the rest of the room..a unique touch. Bathroom had a nice large walk-in shower which I prefer over slippery bathtubs. The staff was friendly and efficient and always had answers to my questions. I enjoyed my meals there too. Food was good to excellent and reasonably priced for a Caribbean resort. They have the best breakfast pastries I have ever had. You have to try the cinamon rolls with raisins...sinful! My morning workout was also wonderful in the hotel's new gym. It was not crowded and the equipment is first rate. The hotel has a nice beach and pool. I highly recommend this hotel and will seriously consider it for a vacation trip with my partner.
“Avila Beach Resort - A Gem In Curacao”
The Avila proved to be one of the highlights of our trip to Curacao. The hotel was well kept, clean and the staff very was accomodating and helpful at all levels. Our room in the Octagon wing was very nice, comfortable, with a balcony looking out to the ocean. The two beach areas provided sufficent open water swimming within breakwater protected coves. The hotel grounds also provided a number of food and bar options throughout the day. Weekday shuttles provided convenient transportation to the Punda shopping area. We celebrated our 30th anniversary there and was surprised with flowers from the hotel gardens and a bottle of wine from the staff in our room that evening. In all we highly recommend the Avila and will stay there again if traveling to Curacao.
“The Queens hotel”
This hotel is apparently where the Queen of the Netherlands stays when she visits, and i am not surprised. We received a free upgrade to the Octagon Building (probably because we went in the off season). I could not have asked for more from the room. It was beautiful, comfortable, large, and had a stove and refrigerator and dishes. We had to ask the kitchen for a pot or two that were missing, but they brought them later that day. We ate at two of the hotel restaurants: The first, lunch at the Belle Terrace was truly excellent; one of the best meal i had had in a while. The second, dinner at the Blues restaurant was sub par. Edible but not good. The food and drinks at both restaurants and the bars were expensive, but that was typical for everywhere on the island. One night at the Blues bar they had a jazz/blues singer/pianist who was amazing. the bar was packed with locals and toursists alike and everyone had a good time. I highly recommend this hotel, especially in the offseason.
“Nice hotel with place for business and leisure.”
Not part of a chain, food and beverage finally for normal prices (half the price as similar hotels on the island). Good management and staff.
“Will be going back Ourselves & Highly Recommend to Others”
My husband and I went to Curacao for vacation and stayed four nights at Avila. We Absolutely loved the hotel. The staff was courteous with a good sense of humor and quite relaxed. The room was very nice, and ours in particular had a wonderful view of the beach located right on the Avila Hotel grounds. We thought the food at all the restaurants were spectacular. In particular, we recommend the Belle Terrace. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere very romantic. My husband really liked their lamb entree. Avila also has various events throughout the week like live Blues/Jazz. We were able to catch the live music at the Blues Restaurant and really enjoy the music. Also, there are multiple venues on Avila grounds that make it easy for tourists to get around Curacao. We were able to book a snorkeling tour at a on-site tourist office location with minimal hassle. Overall, the hotel made the trip one of the most memorable for us.
“A real winner!”
Avila Hotel met most all our expectations with flying colors. The property is beautiful with great amenities. I highly recommend staying in the Octagon wing. Our room was modern and super clean. The A/C was amazing for good sleeping at night. The gym is state of the art. They charge you for a gym towel which seems odd. They don't charge at the beach for beach towels. The infinity pool and beach facilities are perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed eating lunch everyday at the Pool Bar. The food is quite amazing and the staff is very friendly. The only downside we experienced was dinner at Blues Restaurant the night we arrived on a Sunday. The service was completely amateurish and the food was just okay. It was a completely opposite experience to our lunches everyday at the Pool Bar that were fantastic. We choose to eat dinner at local restaurants every other night after our Blues Restaurant experience. The neighborhood has some great restaurants within a 2 to 10 minute walk from the hotel. I would definitely stay at Avila again when returning to Curacao. The location is perfect. It is convenient to Punda and Otrobonda, but when you are on the property you feel secluded.
“Dutch charm with Caribbean warmth”
The Avila Beach Hotel is certainly an outstanding hotel in Curaçao which had primarily catered to European tourists for years. But more and more people are discovering it, like myself. My two recent stays have been nothing short of exceptional. I've tried the old and new wings of the hotel and both are superb, although I personally liked more the old wing because the rooms are more spacious and have a great A/C! The hotel's two beaches are formidable. Don't miss the happy hour in the Blues, a cozy bar/restaurant nestled in the ocean. The sunset from the Blues is breathtaking. I intend to stay again at the Avila in my future trips to Curaçao.
