Paraíso em Curacao

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Da cordialidade dos funcionários e da localização.
Cons: Não ter carpete nos quartos e o preço dos restaurantes e bares.
Location: Praia perfeita, linda e tranquila.

Dive shop right at the beach with two boats

Posted Feb 8, 2015
Pros: dive boat on site
Cons: A shuttle that runs much more frequently would be great so you don't have the need to rent a car or pay for taxis.
Recommend taking the boat since the currents can take you quite a distance. The guide uses a float buoy on a line so the boat is always there to pick you up at the end of the dives. The current is actually nice since its enough that swimming is easy, yet not so strong that you can't stop and take longer looks at stuff. On the one day the boat was busy, they brought along a professional photographer. He does great work and plays it back for everyone at the dive shop after the dive. If you like it, you may buy it.... he sells the package for a very affordable price...no pressure or guilt if you don't buy it.

Back to fantasy land

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: We cannot think of anything
Location: We spent a day in Wilemstad and browsed all the shops and markets, had a nice by the floating bridge. Ate dinner at the fort.
We stayed here 10 years ago and decided to go back and celebrate the wifes 50th birthday. When I told the staff of my plan and how we loved our room on the first visit, they accomodated my request for the same room. This is a truly beautiful resort and the staff is very accomodating. The snorkeling right of the beach is excellent, after a day of snorkeling, swimming up to the pool bar for an awesome rum drink was relaxing. The variety of food on site and quality is also very good. You have to try the Thai Chicken skewers with the peanut dip in the Emerald Lounge, I could not stop eating them. We would and have already highly recommended this resort.

Beautiful Accommodations

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Everything, even the iguanas!
Cons: I thought the lunch prices were expensive, but the breakfast was reasonable.
Location: We enjoyed the Harbor Club, a short walk away, and Willemstad is only 15 minutes away. Also, the tour drivers will gladly pick you up at the hotel.
The Marriott is open to the ocean breeze and beautifully landscaped. We were a little concerned about a virus carried by mosquitoes that is spreading over all of the islands, but the Marriott sprayed at night while we were sleeping, so mosquitoes were not a problem. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the grounds beautiful, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the architecture/landscaping unbeatable. The food was pricey, but we did receive a $50 daily credit, which helped. We enjoyed the walk down the beach to adjacent hotels/restaurants, also. The drinks were outstanding, and there is usually a daily special. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to go again! Also, the beach is sandy, which is not always the case in Curacao. I especially enjoyed the dinner on the beach one night during our stay, and the entertainment on weekend nights. There is a casino available for those who are interested in gambling, and a free shuttle to town that leaves at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Comfortable Beach Resort but service lacking

Posted Dec 31, 2014
Pros: It was a standard beach resort. A couple of staff members require praise for their cheerful disposition and stand out from the rest.
Cons: Quality of service, improvement in attitude, attention to customers and timeliness, improved job knowledge.
Location: Nice location and close to town; but taxi is main mode of public transportation for lunches and dinners if you don't rent a car. Fares do add up.
We had mixed feelings about our stay at the Curacao Marriott. The reception was courteous and friendly upon arrival; our room, an upgrade was spacious. Some of the staff were helpful but others bore an expression like they did not want to be there---indifference barely begins to describe it. Service at the Portofino was definitely below par (and getting a drink at the Beach bar, Sea Breeze (?) was definitely not a breeze!) whereas the prices for items were on the high sidemore than $10 per drink if mixed drink); also a 15% service charge is tagged on everything. At times, items in the menu were not available and staff encouraged the buffet rather than a la carte; some of the waiters and waitresses we had at dinner were poorly informed on the menu and could not answer questions; one night it took us more than an hour to get our meal (for three people). We were frustrated and did complain to the restaurant manager and gave some suggestions for improving attitude and service quality. The following day, we were directed to a taxi ride for dinner out in town by a staff member at the front desk and got charged a time and a half posted in the lobby for that ride; when I complained to the reception about it the next morning (to a different staff member), they contacted the driver who came and returned part of the charge that day with an apology and an explanation he was not thinking straight. Anyway, I for one will probably go to a different resort the next time.
