Within the city and close to the floating bridgePosted Aug 9, 2013
Pros: The close proximity to places of interest and easy shopping
Cons: The connection between the Reception area and the guestrooms
Location: Visit museums, Forts, Floating Market, Free ferry service when the Bridge is closed. Large shopp[ing areas and places to relax and be entertained
It was a pleasant, enriching and educational experience.

downtown hotelPosted Apr 17, 2013
Pros: car parking
Cons: room quality and electrical outlets
Location: Heart of Willemstad/Otrobanda
Some had a musty smell and all outlets are European type, but front desk has adapters for use. The location was the best part as it is in the center of Otrobanda near Cruise ship docking. Also has an Avis rental car location open during business hours only. The hotel restaurant operated by others and I would not recomend. Coffee and fruit was $15 This is an old hotel and feels like it too.

Don't go to this hotelPosted Mar 27, 2013
Stay away from this place. There aren't words to describe it. It is dirty, in a terrible area with homeless people all around it, I had to sleep in my clothes because the bed looked so dirty. Don't go. Sleep in a car or on a side walk before you go here.

If you don't expect too much the price is right.Posted Aug 19, 2012
Pros: Located in the center of Willemstad, Bus station around the corner. Very nice staff. Low priced.
Cons: The rooms were not very clean. Old part of the hotel is outdated.
Location: Friends told us not to go out at night because people got attacked and robbed. We didn't feel unsafe but a couple of times addicts asked us for money.
When we looked for the hotel we couldn't find it because it's name changed a long time ago to Howard Johnson. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our first room was in a bad state. Stains all over the carpet and the air conditioner was very noisy. The room was smaller than it showed online. Our view was great! We looked at the famous Pondjesbrug. Our room was located in the old part of the hotel. After the first night we complaint about the noisy air conditioner and the staff transferred us to a much bigger room in the new part of the hotel. The room was much better, the view wasn't. The carpet was dirty again. The 4th and last night we spend in again another room because our air conditioner broke down again. This room was even better because it had a little fridge. Again there were unidentified big stains in the carpet. We booked a room without breakfast. We tried to have breakfast in the little cafe downstairs but they only serve the american breakfast, which we don't like. TV service in the room was good. There was no fridge in the first 2 rooms and the ice machine was in the lobby. Drink vendor machines were out of order. The bidet in the 3th room was clogged.

Hotel is not as atevertised on ExpediaPosted Jul 23, 2012
Pros: AC worked and location
Cons: Other than the AC and local everything was horrible
Location: Great for food and shops
We had a issue right off the bat when trying to get to the hotel. The hotel is really Howard Johnson not the Americana. The cab drivers had no clue the name of the Americana. After getting that ordeal figured out we made it to the hotel. The bed was cheap and the springs pushed on your back all night. There were two twin size comforters for my wife and I vs a lower sheet and a upper comforter sheet. These were never changed the entire time we were there which was a concern they were not washed between guests. The tub was also missing the plug stop so my wife could not take a bath. We also had to request a refrigerator as the room was supposed to have one but was not installed. We happen to see the facility guy taking one out of another room and was able to get one the day after we checked in. Over all this was a HUGE disappointment for standards of hotel accommodations. The only positives were the AC worked, the view from the window was awesome and the location was in the heart of the restaurants and the night life for Willemstad. If you go to Curacao your choices are a horrible hotel but close to all the shops and food or stay at the Marriott for a better hotel but far away form the food and shops. My recommendation would be stay at the Marriott and use the shuttle to go to town. There is a beach there and better rooms / facility.
