The hotel has everything. Its got a pool, a spacious room, breakfast, kitchenette, warm water, it's clean, new and modern. But most of all the staff will make you feel like you can call this place 'home'. Had absolutely NO issues at all and the central location made reaching and going anywhere very easy.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it! Americans be warned though, since Annemarie and Marcel are European they have chosen couches and beds that are more of a European style- meaning the couches are very small (think more like Ikea) and the king size beds are actually two twins beds pushed together (so the middle of the bed is VERY uncomfortable and the mattresses themselves weren't very comfortable either). There is also the fact that the washing machine, dryer, and refrigerator were all in Dutch which did pose a few problems for us, but we figured them out eventually. Otherwise we loved everything though! The location was great, the facilities were gorgeous and exactly as pictured, and we had a wonderful time!

"Boutique hotel feel with family friendly attitude!"
This is a wonderful hotel for families with children. It is small & quiet with easy short walk to the beach. The staff is very accommodating. We had problems with our air conditioning and the staff was responsive that night. It was fixed the next morning. You have unlimited entrance to the Sea Aquarium, which is wonderful. There is a free daily shuttle to the grocery store. You can get a rental car delivered to your room. Restaurants within walking distance are limited but the food was good. Get the grouper at Augustos. You can take the bus and walk across the floating bridge to Otrobanda. The best food we had was at Steak & Ribs at Rif Fort. Since we have a preschooler, we opted to use the public bus for 9 guilders each way. We took the money we would have spent on car rental and used it for myself and our daughter to have an encounter with a dolphin (in the water, standing on a platform you can learn about, pet & kiss him). Curaçao is a beautiful island!

"Great hotel near the other resorts and dolphins!"
We had a great deal, $90/night. Our room overlooked the dolphin academy, which meant we get to watch the dolphins as much as we wanted from our room! This place is also right across from the rest of the resorts, which was great for shopping, resting, quick bites to eat, and for drinks.
Normally we don't stay in resorts; we usually like being near areas that aren't so heavily touristed, but the deal was too good to pass up.

We stayed in Garden view Rm 150, which was very nice because the deck was very private and full of local wildlife because we faced thick natural brush. The room is also one of the closest to the lobby/bar/beach. The resort is gorgeously natural and secluded with just enough beach for the guests (which was fine because there were few non-guest visitors since we were 45 minutes from Williamstaad). I was surprised that the bathroom was not airconditioned (but we dressed in the room so it wasn't a problem#. The food at the resort was good, but not inexpensive. There are few places nearby. We loved Sol Food #right up the street, but only open Fri, Sat Sun [get a reservation]) and didn't enjoy Jaanchies. Didn't get to try Rancho El Sobrino. Beachfront grill @ resort was nice, but is not every night. We didn't experience any of the slow food service others mentioned, but we ate @ 7 or 8.
We didn't need beach shoes, but there is a lot of coral close to the beach. Snorkling is right off the beach to see 10-15 colorful fish and some live coral.
Service was always good, but certain employees were terriffic. Hank is the man.
Evenings were beautifully quiet.

The hotel is made up of cabins spread out over beautiful well-cared for grounds. They've been recently renovated, so look new. Very pleasantly surprised that the two beds we requested were queen size and comfortable. Our room had a fairly large fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker with a good supply of coffee. Lots of ice in the ice machine by the office.
Don't know about the shuttle, it was definitely nice to have a car and not be tied to their schedule (the shuttle to town and to the beach is once a day, leaves the beach at 4). The hotel is walking distance to a small mall (Zuikertuin), and there is a large grocery store (Mangusa) on the way to the best beaches with amazing fruit salads.
With a car the location is great. Head north on the ring road to the beaches, head south on the ring road to get to town. The hotel has lots of parking. When coming from the airport there is a sign at the roundabout to get to the hotel, otherwise it's very confusing at first.

Totally enjoyed our 2 week stay at the Morena. Very clean, great location and in a beautiful setting. Staff extremely helpful and friendly !! Apartment was not huge but sufficient for the two of us, had 2 bedrooms and a large deck area with table, couches and chairs. We were also pleased to have a rack on the deck for drying towels, etc. Within walking distance to beach, restaurants and supermarket. First week we were without a car, second with. Local bus stops right in front of hotel as well as a van that will take you shopping to a larger supermarket. Bus rides were very minimal (couple Canadian dollars) and van ride to market free. Parking for our rental was free as well. We had the option of making our own meals or to eat out. Did both. The food at the Resort’s Fuego Restaurant/bar was great (all you can eat Wok night was superb) and the staff, especially Mironda and Indira, terrific. Also definitely family friendly. When we used the pool facilities, appreciated the fact that it was never crowded or that we needed to “save” a spot ahead of time. It’s not a “fancy” resort but more quaint, which we find much more appealing. Definitely great value and would highly recommend staying here.

The outstandingly friendly and attentive staff at Avila makes this a special place we've returned too often. We prefer the old style Belle Alliance wing which has tree frogs singing in the garden, and balconies on either the sea or the garden. The choice of beaches with coral reef, exquisite pool, and a choice of restaurants (we love Blues) bring us back again and again. We went originally for Art in Avila concerts which may be a joy of the past but well worth the effort. I understand there may soon be direct flights from NYC to Curacao - weekends at Avila will be an easier trip!
