Busy Resort Right on the BeachPosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: The best thing about the Sunscape was the staff; they were friendly and fun as well as professional.
Cons: The room could have been improved by having windows on either side to allow the breeze to blow through, less musty smell and less reliance on the A/C.
Location: The Sunscape is a 30 minute walk from the shopping area of Willemstad and local buses are readily available. Water sports are available on site.
We stayed at the Sunscape for 5 days and enjoyed the stay. We were in one of the older rooms and, unfortunately, it smelled a bit musty, especially in the bathroom. It was also close to the pool so it was a bit noisy until they shut down the entertainment around 10:00. Other than those minor issues, it was great. The food was really good, especially at the Oceana; the service was excellent with friendly and fun staff. Its only about a 30 minute walk into the shopping district of Willemstad and we felt safe. The snorkeling was very good and calm inside the breakwater. All-in-all, I would have no hesitation going back or recommending this hotel to anyone of any age.

OK, but not worth the moneyPosted Jan 31, 2014
Pros: the break wall in the water was really nice so there was not a big surf/surge on the beach. It also made for really nice snorkelling.
Cons: service, reservations for specialty restaurants, maintenance
Location: not much to do near resort. shore diving from resort is very good.
Resort is decent, but you pay alot for it and there are alot of problems. We were lucky and were put in preferred room, so our room was nice, however, our friends were not so lucky. First couple requested 2 beds and were put in oldest bldg with 1 double bed, then were given a rollaway cot to sleep on for 2 nights until able to move them. then their new room started leaking from ceiling and they just duct taped the leak which of course, continued to leak!! Another couple also had a leak, and called maintenance every day, to re-duct tape the leak and mop up the water. We all had to call room service several times/days in a row to actually get our refrigerators restocked with water and other drinks. I called 4 times before anyone came. the specialty restaurants dont take reservations like most all inclusives, so people start lining up an hour before they open. this is ridiculous. if you dont make the first seating, you may not eat until 9pm. many of our specialty meals took 2 1/2-3hrs to be served and finished. Food was just ok, nothing awesome. definitely not worth the wait. Some of the staff were very nice and pleasant, but the majority of them ignore you and if they do wait on you, they ALWAYS say.. "its a pleasure", even if they dont smile or look at you. It is obviously their trained answer. I would not stay here again for the price.

Not fancy but beautiful beach and very nice peoplePosted Jan 30, 2014
Pros: The hotel was nothing fancy but absolutely acceptable. Our room was remodeled and very adequate.
Cons: We were frustrated at the very end because apparently our "all inclusive" didn't include our ride to the airport, only from the airport...
The staff was very friendly and the restaurant went out of their way to make my husband's 50th birthday very nice. The beach is beautiful.

Jagged Rocky BeachfrontPosted Jan 27, 2014
it's all relative. If you have stayed at an all inclusive in Mexico or Costa Rica, or have been to a nice beach, then prepare for disappointment. Why build a full deal resort on a beach full of sharp pebbles and rock fragments that hurt to walk on. No salty sandy beach here. The room was excellent, the bar service was fine. The staff were nice. The pool was okay. They layout and amenities were standard if you have been to a Dreams resort chain. The buffet was sub par, in part just because it's Curacao and the menu reflects what you can get here... but there was better stuff in town. Restaurant food was okay. It's the only all inclusive on the island that I know of, so take it or leave it. Just don't go if a nice sandy beach was one of your main desires.

Pros: Snorkelling - Counted over 60 different fish one day
Cons: Showers could do with a shelf. Hot water, More crockery, more towels, bath mats
Small but good Beach, great snorkelling. Facilities & Entertainment OK. Food OK-Good. Let down by constant waits for crockery. Coffee Shop used paper cups most of time. Cold Showers - lukewarm at best, constantly had to ring for fridge service. Lack of towels [beach & Room], Tea & Coffee not always replenished daily. No room Wi-Fi as advertised on resorts website at time of booking. Paid for preferred club but except for Wi-Fi in the small lounge, very poor compared to other resort 'club' facilities we have experienced. Think those staying for a couple of nights probably had better serviced rooms than us staying for two weeks - were missed a couple of times and late service generally.......Overall very disappointing for the cost paid per night.

Chosen for snorkeling....Posted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: We liked the location of our room, as it was centrally located. We also enjoyed the snorkeling, sand volleyball, friendly staff, and Italian rest.
Cons: Better organization of the activities. Participation was sometimes poor, so you never knew if an activity would happen. Announcements would help.
Location: We were within walking distance of the aquarium, which offered many activities. Tropical tours and a rental car desk was right in the lobby.
We had never traveled to Curacao, and seeing that it had some of the best weather in the Caribbean in January, we searched the island for a place on the water that advertised snorkeling. Sunscape Curacao Resort seemed to fit the bill, so we booked it and never regretted it for a moment. We aren't the greatest swimmers, so the calm waters inside the break-wall was perfect, and the variety of colorful fish was great. They offered to take snorkelers out beyond the break-wall where there is a reef, but the windy and rough conditions was not for us. The room was a deluxe water front room, and though it is not new and had a warn look to it, it was clean and comfortable. The staff was always friendly, and made us feel at home and cared for. Anything we asked for was provided; even special seating at the restaurants. The food was always of good variety, quality and quantity. Never was there a "Sorry, we can't do that." from any of the staff.

Beautiful beaches, very clean hotel and good service. Helpful staff in general. The hotel is a bit old but comfortable and very well decorated.

Mixed review and feelings....Posted Jan 6, 2014
Pros: We liked the staff's attitude and good food. Not to mention the espresso cafe was a great place to hang around after meals and enjoy free net
Cons: Noise from kids, drunk people and music must be controlled. It was very annoying.
Location: We walked to town everyday. Return trip is exactly 10km, from hotel to Starbucks and back. BLVD just next door. Google it. Its a nice venue.
Overall this is a very good hotel in a good location. Staff is incredible and going out of their way to help. Food is great in all 5 restaurants. They are always helping and friendly to assist and always responding 'its our pleasure!". On the down side, we were in building #3 facing ocean. It was very noisy. Music frompool area was very loud and did not allow us to have a good quiet time in our room until it was ovr. Then the nearby Mambo beach's music took over till 1am or so. Unsupervised kids running around late at night and playing shuffleboard type game made it very disturbing. Had to cmplaing to management 3 nights to stop the game and they did not till 11pm or so. Not to mention, certain people not being able to hold teir all inclusive alcohol and making lot of noise at 2am or 3am in and around rooms. Also found out that starting in 2014, free shore diving tank was taken off their list. Otherwise it was a nice hotel but wont visit again due to noise.
