Walking distance to Punda and OtrabandaPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Walking to town, close to everything by car. Big studios, great flat screen TV. Both European and US electrical outlets
Cons: Will be nicer once construction is completed. The bathroom roof leaks when it rains hard. Hot water for showering.
I had a great week at the Ritz studios. There is a lot of construction currently, so the neighborhood should be nicer in a few years.

Short walk to downtown, but very quiet settingPosted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: See above under experience.
Cons: The floors (either repaint them or remove the old paint).
Location: It is 1 block from the river front and another 2 blocks to cross over a bridge to the floating market and heart of the shopping area +several museums.
The studio apartment I had for 2 nights was very simple, but comfortable (though the flaking paint on the concrete floor was the first thing I noticed upon entering) and a reasonable price. Kitchenette well equipped (+nice touch of instant coffee, creamer, sugar, salt, pepper, electric pot for heating water). The very friendly, helpful manager arranged for a taxi to pick me up in front at 6 a.m. to go the the airport and, without my asking for it, asked me if I would like a wake up call. Thoughtful! I enjoyed the super quiet setting and short walk by the waterfront to the downtown area (though I wouldn't venture out alone there at night since the streets are deserted then in this area which seems to be primarily offices. The complex (including offices, a medical school, etc., along with the studio apartments) is attractive and is filled with modern sculptures. There is a small just functional restaurant in the front (which I didn't try, wanting go to places with more visual/menu interest - though I did manage to purchase club soda there which I could not find anywhere else in the area!). Since My interest was primarily to attend the Curaçao Jazz Fest (not vacation or looking for a special, flashy resort style place and with no interest in the beach), its being economical, functional, clean, comfortable, spacious and +kitchenette was enough to satisfy my needs.

Centrally Located in a convenient downtown areaPosted Jun 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Difficult to find at first, but very close-by to the movie hall, central bank, and other city landmarks. Nice colorful red architecture. Sad that breakfast was not included for the price I paid, but the 15% discount coupon they gave me at the dinner restaurant down the street helped. Staff was very helpful and answered all my questions regarding directions, sightseeing, and attractions. Within walking distance from all major downtown attractions including bridge, market, and colored buildings. Room cleaning services could use a bit more regularity.

It was clean and felt safe.Posted May 17, 2013
My son and daughter and I all met and spent 4 nights together. There is NO hot water which was a little weird. It was great for a last minute good deal.

Within Walking Distance to DowntownPosted Apr 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Ritz Studios is located within walking distance to all the shops and restuarants that Punda has to offer. It is only a 10-15 minute walk to Otrabanda as well. We found the front desk to be extremely helpful for booking day trips and assisting us with directions and recommendations for local attractions. We did not actually spend much time cooking or staying at our hotel, as we were out exploring and seeing the sights. I will mention that there was no hot water in the shower, but after near 90 degree weather all day, a cool (not cold) shower felt pretty good. The Peacock is an excellent bistro for breakfast and lunches and occasional happy hour.

A budget-friendly home away from homePosted Apr 9, 2013
Pros: The desk staff and the kitchenette.
Cons: 4-5 blocks between hotel and shops. nice walk, but when i was too hot....it was SO far!
Location: See above.
The staff were wonderful, informative, welcoming, and professional. My room was very clean. An hour with the A/C on and the original musty smell was gone. For the money, the Ritz offers a good location near Punda and Otrabanda buses, restaurants, floating markets, even a twice weekly shuttle to the grocery store - a fine way to save money and make use of the very functional kitchenette. AC included. I was comfortable. (Other places charge much more and provide more plush.)

Perfect for MEPosted Mar 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
I loved staying here because I felt like an expat. The building also has a medical school which gives it a youthful, educated vibe. The Ritz is stocked with cooking utensils and dishes, and even had a wine-bottle opener! I only stayed for a few days, but it was right up my alley. A binder of useful information is in each room, with a bus schedule, list of local happy-hours, and various tours they can book for you (I was not interested in the tours, but the Happy Hour list really made the trip!) I would not recommend this place to 'everyone', but to me, personally, it was absolutely ideal. (I am a female, stayed alone, have experience with travel through undeveloped countries, prefer low-budget, independent, enjoy food and local culture over many Western conveniences. If these just don't resonate with you, than my review might not be as helpful)
