The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway or for a family vacation. The friendly staff will make you feel right at home and take care of your every need. The resort has 30 fully furnished Caribbean Villas (sleeping six) which can be divided into 30 Suites (sleeping four) and 30 Rooms (sleeping two). The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort is on a private island next to the Curacao Sea Aquarium. The resort has two swimming pools, a kid’s pool, a Jacuzzi, a secluded beach and a restaurant for waterfront dining and sunset cocktails. The Ocean Encounters dive center is just over the bridge and the popular Sea Aquarium beach is within easy walking distance. Island capital Willemstad is just 10 minutes away and it is a 30-minute drive to the airport.

Start your Curacao taste tour in The Sea Aquarium Resort with delicious food prepared by talented chef Augusto Ceccotti and don’t miss the nearby beachfront grill at Mambo Beach. There are many other fine restaurants within walking distance of the resort and in Willemstad to tempt your taste buds and you can go global when it comes to the menus.

Island Flavors: The local seafood is fresh and flavorful and Caribbean and Latin American dishes are widely available. Try the traditional Indonesian rijsttafel or banquet that is a favorite wherever the Dutch have settled in the world or indulge yourself with spicy Indian food, French, Swiss and Italian cuisine. Chinese, Japanese and Thai are also on the menu and if you are a meat lover, you’ll find everything from hamburgers to prime steaks and BBQ ribs. Sample some Curacao cuisine or kuminda krioyo during your stay. The best place is the Marshe Bieu, the old market building in Willemstad, where stalls serve keshi yena, a steamed Dutch cheese with a tasty chicken stuffing, sopi di banana (plantain soup) and pastechi (fried meat pastry) Culinary walking tours are available in Willemstad and take you through Punda and Otrobanda to the Floating Market and the Marshe Bieu for a traditional Curacoan lunch. The resort Concierge will be happy to give you more dining tips and you can browse through sample menus at the Activities Desk.

Augusto’s Restaurant: International favorites, fresh seafood and Italian pasta prepared with flair by Chef Augusto Ceccotti on the waterfront at The Sea Aquarium Resort. If you would like something different, please tell your waiter, special orders are welcome. Augusto’s is open for breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m., lunch 12 to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Happy Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Friday. There is free wireless Internet. A take-out service is available on request.

Nearby Restaurants: Visit Mambo Beach for international dining, theme buffets, grilled seafood and steaks and more under the palms. This popular tropical-style restaurant is open daily for lunch from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and dinner from 7 to 10 p.m. Don’t miss the open-air classic movie night on Tuesday at 9 p.m.

The Night is Young: Cocktails at sunset and a candlelit dinner on the waterfront are the perfect way to start your evening. Follow it up with live music in a beach bar, the repertoire includes reggae, rock, merengue, salsa, jazz and the traditional island beat of tumba and you’ll soon be dancing under the stars. For more fun, take to the waves for a dinner cruise or board a party bus.

Finally, head for Curacao’s casinos, you never know, you may strike lucky.

Enjoy yourself relaxing by the resort pool or sun worshiping on the beach. Take a kayak out on the bay or sign up for some of the activities organized by the resort. If you want to go diving or snorkeling, Ocean Encounters has the tour for you. Finally, save time to visit the Sea Aquarium, go shopping in Willemstad and explore the island.

Beach Hopping: Palm-lined, peaceful and sheltered, the resort beach is the perfect place to start sun worshiping. When you need a change of scenery stroll over to the Lion’s Dive, Mambo or Kontiki beaches, all are within walking distance and have restaurants and bars. There are over 35 beaches to choose from on Curacao so drive along the coast in search of your own favorite sunspot.

Beach Gear and Games: Visit the Front Desk to sign out snorkeling gear, kayaks and organize a visit to the Sea Aquarium. There is no charge for the following services: Snorkeling gear; Books; Parlor games; Beach towels; Kayaks; BBQ grill; Tour of the Sea Aquarium; Shuttle to the supermarket.

Swimming Pools and the Jacuzzi: The pools are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and there is a separate pool for the kids. Enjoy the Caribbean Jacuzzi; there’s space for up to 20 people. When you have had enough of the sun, relax in the shade in one of our five poolside cabañas.

In-house Activities: Join us for a variety of fun activities including salsa, merengue and bachata dance classes, Papiamento lessons to help you learn the local lingo, pool volleyball, snorkeling, bingo, organized tours and children’s games. If you are coming down with your children and would like us to schedule craft activities, send us an email request prior to travel, using the information in the confirmation received after booking.

Booking Tours: Attend the Sunday morning Orientation Briefing at the resort for tips on exploring Curacao, ask the Concierge for more local attractions and you will be raring to go. You may decide to rent a car and explore at your own pace, sign up for a day trip, try horseback riding, hiking or even a safari jeep tour, all available from the local tour operator that serves the resort.
