Cheap place to spend one night

Posted Sep 14, 2014
We had a very warm welcome with a cup of coca tea. The room was big, but not too clean. We didn't dare to take a shower (too many hairs there). The breakfast was basic (another hair in my scrambled egg), but I guess it's ok just for spending a night in order to get some rest before further journey.

Just like staying with family

Posted Jun 19, 2014
While this isn't the most upmarket hotel around we throughly enjoyed out stay. The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable. The staff were all very polite and friendly which makes you feel right at home. It was also close enough for us to walk into the popular tourist areas and markets which we did most days

Good for a Short Stay !

I arrived at 4:00 a.m in the morning.. And the lady was nice enough to guide through not spending more than 5 minutes checking in and a decent personalized breakfast at 10.00 from another lady. Clean rooms.. I will stay again if I visit Cusco. It's close to visiting spots. Good luck !!

We stayed 2 nights. Everything was great. We left our backpack in the storage room during Inca Trail for free. The owner miss Mercedes treated us like family. The location is 20 min walking to the Plaza de Armas so maybe could be a problem for some people.

Excellent value for money

Pros: Cost, warmth of the staff, breakfast made to order, and close proximity to the centre and to the markets and cheaper restaurants.
Cons: Floor mats for bathroom, shampoo sachets could be provided.
Location: Market and ATM nearby, restaurants and centro cusco is 15 mins walking up Avenida del sol.
Mercedes, the "mama" of the hotel is a lovely person to talk to, and greets you with a lot of warmth. Coca tea was provided and breakfast served from 7-10am, with fresh eggs made to order and fresh pineapple juice. The hotel feels like a house, and the rooms are clean with no significant views. The bathrooms could use an extra towel for the floor though. The hotel is a 15 min walk to the Plaza del armas, centre of cusco, and a couple of good restaurants and markets very close to the hotel, especially the chifa chinese restaurant which really tasty food. We also checked in late after the Inca trail hike and had no problems with someone answering the door. Staff is very kind and nice and they have a microwave in the kitchen to heat your cup of coffee/tea, food etc. On Friday night there was some noise outside on the streets adjacent to our rooms, but not too much that we could not sleep. Light sleepers might reconsider a room facing the street. Would definitely recommend this place to stay for groups of friends and families.

Really, payments are made only in cash, in dollars or soles, this does not mean a problem for anyone because there are many ATMs provide cash very easily. We regret that in your case this has meant a discomfort despite our prices are so low, so it is not necessary to carry much cash. Sincerely, Mercedes

Friendly, helpful, and caring

Pros: The staff
Location: It is a quick taxi ride from most of the attractions in Cusco.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. Check-in was easy - the "mama" was waiting for us outside. The hostel itself is lovely with plenty of rooms and lots of open areas to hang out. Sadly, on the second day I got very sick. The "Mama" called an English-speaking hospital with ambulence pick-up, which was good because I had to have surgery later that day. We ended up staying at Casa de Mama throughout my recovery. The staff was friendly (customizing breakfast according to what the doctor said I could and could not eat), helpful, and caring. The rooms were large with plenty of hot water and good wi-fi. I HIGHLY recommend Casa de Mama. It made me feel safe.
