Overpriced hotel

Posted Aug 8, 2014
The hotel room is clean, the staff is really nice, but our room was in the middle of a hallway and a common area, there wasn't any privacy and there are better options less expensive. Overall, I would say it is overpriced and the restaurant was under renovations

Good place to get a good night's rest

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Hot showers, got a good night's rest, includes breakfast, which gets served starting 5am, right on the strip where you have all kinds of restaurants.
Cons: Larger rooms. Clarify what a double room means to them.
Location: Good location, near restaurants and shops. 10 min walk a steep downhill to get to the bus station to go to Machu Picchu. Uphill from train station.
The hotel is nothing special. It is mostly a place to spent the night before going to Machu Picchu, but that's pretty much it. We booked a double bed, but when we arrived at the hotel they gave us two singles and explained that for them double means two beds, and not one. I think Expedia should clarify this as I am pretty sure I booked based on the description and a photo of a queen sized bed. Since we were going to spend just one night, we agreed to that and the hotel staff compensated us by giving us a room the next day so we could take showers after hiking up Machu Picchu and before leaving Aguas Calientes on the train, which was nice. They also were very accommodating by holding some of our luggage so we didn't have to carry it with us while visiting Machu Picchu. The bathroom essentially had no space, but it was recently updated and we had nice hot showers. The beds were nice and comfortable. Try to get a room all the way in the back and upstairs as the lower rooms had much traffic in front of the rooms, e.g. some inconsiderate people yelling in the hallway at 5 am in the morning. Breakfast was basic, but good. Lots of fruit choices.

Cute little hotel on the top of the hill.

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful
Cons: Better heaters in the rooms
Location: Off the beaten path at the top of the hill. A bit of a hike uphill to get there, but lots of restaurants and little stores nearby.
Cute boutique hotel, but the bathroom was very small (our knees almost touched the wall when sitting on the toilet) and the heater was not sufficient to warm the room. The room was very noisy, as the walls seemed very thin. This was perhaps just that we had particularly loud neighbors and was no fault of the hotel's. The bed was comfortable, however and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Ok for one night

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Location, right in plaza des armes
Hotel is ok. Peru is not a country you go to for luxury stays. Room was clean, bathroom better than most we stayed in, (hard to get used to throwing toilet paper in the little garbage cans, but that's true wherever you stay). Staff very sweet but the noise! Walls paper thin, morning kitchen staff working right out our window one floor down had no sensitivity to sleeping guests at 5 am. Breakfast was good. Rooms on front of hotel have balconys, which, while charming, plant you on the street and above ATM which provided noise all night long.

Good location

We stayed one night as we were seeing Machu Picchu the following day. The train pick-up was incredibly easy and the guy was very friendly. He lugged our bags on a cart up all of the steep walkways to the hotel for us! We had two rooms for four people total and they were right next to each other, which was great. We did not have a chance to eat the hotel bfast, but it looked good. The hotel also had a secure baggage hold, which was awesome! The wifi was ok at this hotel. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. It is close the hot springs (which I don't recommend unless you want to throw your bathing suit out afterwards), restaurants, markets, and just a short walk to the bus and train stations.

It seems as though water cutting off in the afternoon is a normal ordeal. This is quite inconvenient. The hotel is located quite far from the train station, our shuttle was a man taking our bags and walking with them to the hotel. The room is has a nice authentic feel and we were welcomed warmly. Hotel is near alot of restaurants and massage parlours.

Rooms smell terrible , no hot water ,run down rooms. A steep climb away from the action. Only saving grace was the warm and helpful staff
