Great with some reservations

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Cons: Room climate controls should allow heating.
We stayed at the JW Marriott with our 2 children (under 4). The hotel is beautiful: a tasteful fusion of the comforts and standards of a 4 star hotel together with an aesthetic and decor that is very much appropriate to Cusco. The staff, attentive and respectful. The inner courtyard was a little oasis where you could work in peace or just recharge from tourist activities. The bedrooms while clean and comfortable, were on the smaller side. We were also in the -1 floor and the rooms on that floor have a view of a wall (albeit with some natural light coming in from the top). The biggest complaint was that the room climate controls did not allow for any heat. And short of turning off the air, which didn't make things much warmer and given the altitude you may not want to do, we found the room to be cold. Not a problem if you don't mind going under duvet covers, but if your kids don't like sleeping covered (like ours) you may find this less than ideal.

良い雰囲気のホテル

Posted Jan 10, 2015

Great Marriott experience with a personal touch

Posted Dec 15, 2014
I can't say enough how professionally and warmly Marriott staff took care of us. I was quite sick when we checked in. They made sure a doctor sees me right away at the hotel. The doctor was very good - kudos to Marriott selection. Next morning I left my passport in the room and realized only after reaching the airport. The hotel staff (Mr Douglas if I remember correctly) personally came to the airport to deliver the passport. It would have been a disaster if housekeeping had somehow lost the passport or Mr Douglas had delayed coming to the airport. I would have missed two connecting international flights while also under the stress of fighting a serious infection. Kudos to Marriott culture and also to the caring spirit I found in the Peruvian people I met including hotel staff and taxi drivers who all worked as a seamless team absolutely focused to help and serve their guest in some particularly challenging situations I faced while staying at the hotel. It felt like a home and they all felt like my own people.
