“Nice, reasonable B&B”
We are a family of 4 that stayed at La Posada del Abuelo for 3 nights. We had two rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our plane arrived early on Saturday morning. We were greeted at the airport by a driver with a sign having all our names. We felt safe. We were immediately and graciously served coca tea to help us adjust to the altitude. The service from the staff was fabulous. Rosa Luz was incredibly helpful with assisting us with our sightseeing. While she only speaks Spanish, it wasn't a problem as she would immediately call or bring someone in that could speak English with us. We did speak some Spanish. The breakfast were fair, but a nice start. It was your typical eggs (scrambled), bread, fresh squeezed juice, coffee, cereal (Peruvian), milk, butter and jam. Yes, it is a 15-20 basically flat walk from the Plaza de Armas. The walk is a nice way to see other parts of Cusco. Taxis are readily available and inexpensive. We had no problem with honesty of drivers. Have them show you their tourist or government id to add a sense of safety. We had absolutely no problems with the security and safety of our possessions. La Posada del Abuelo is a great place to stay if you are on a budget. On our after Machu PIcchu stay, we stayed at their sister location, Second Home Cusco. It is more upscale and located in San Blas. Staying at sister hotel was a plus for transferring bag during our Machu PIcchu visit. We highly recommend Second Home Cusco.

Cusco, Peru: The Old and the New World intersect in Cusco: This fair city was remade in the image of Spain after conquistadors crushed the Inca in the 1500s. This colonial heritage is most evident at the Plaza de Armas, home to three baroque churches. To see the vestiges of the Incas, pass through the bohemian enclave of San Blas in the hills above central Cusco, and head north to the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
