Wow - Great stay at Machu Picchu!Posted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: Obviously the location - such a unique experience. Staff was amazing.
Cons: Rooms were a bit basic for the price, but keep in mind the remote location and access to MP.
Location: Best location - at the MP entrance!
We had a fantastic experience here - the staff bent over backwards for us, and it was great to be able to hike MP in the late afternoon, and early morning hours when most of the tourists were back down in Cuzco. Food and wine were excellent too!

Don't spend the moneyPosted Oct 14, 2013
Better to spend your money elsewhere. Not clean. Change your trip, even by a day and loose your money................

At freaking Machu PicchuPosted Oct 3, 2013
Pros: So nice to relax at site and walk 1 min to front gate. Hot tub is a must do. It's behind hotel and you can see the Inca site sitting in the water.
Great stay and so comfy. The added touches were great.

On the whole ok, but with some disappointmentsPosted Aug 31, 2013
Pros: Location to Machu Picchu was extremely good
Cons: Transport from the town is totally inadequate and the staff/ manager bizarrely unsympathetic, unhelpful and uninterested to this situation.
Location: Things to do nearby? See Macchu Picchu! Or if you arrive before its dark the views of the valley are apparently spectacular.
We found the hotel very nice albeit extremely expensive and with a very disappointing transport system from Aguas Calientes. The room was clean and comfortable, although not overly large. The bar and restaurant were very nice with good staff and great food. Obviously the location is perfect for early entry into Machu Picchu to see the sunrise. Our main criticism was that the transportation system up from Aguas Calientes is totally inadequate and that the hotel staff seemed perfectly happy for us to wait 2-3 hours at the bottom of the mountain for a bus. Given the time of day and early sunset this essentially meant we arrived in darkness, which somewhat defeated the point of staying at the hotel for the views. Although we appreciate there are some local politics regarding the use of buses up the mountain, we thought the cost of the hotel would preclude such an amateur arrangement of transporting guests up to the hotel. Surely the hotel can afford a small minibus or car to collect its guests from the train station. Instead we found the hotel staff and manager extremely unsympathetic to this situation. This is was not the level of customer service one would expect from such a supposedly high quality hotel.

Overpriced but wonderful locationPosted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: Staff & position
Cons: Insulation between rooms - could hear snoring from next door. Coffee & tea available in rooms
Location: Excellent location
Staff great, rooms just OK for the price, major problem is noise from adjoining rooms. No complimentary tea or coffee available & café overcharged for this. Hotel old but position is wonderful.

Amazing location and staffPosted Jul 31, 2013
The staff at the Sanctuary Lodge were fantastic. So friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I've given this hotel a 4 o etall rather than a 5, because our double room had two single beds in it and the restaurant dinner menu (only dinner) seemed a little limited, in the direction of pretentious. Again, I'd like to

Located right at the entrance to Machu PicchuPosted Jul 12, 2013
Pros: Complementary mini bar, laundry service, bring luggages to the train station at Aguas Caliente, VIP waiting room at the train station, hot tub.
Fabulous, pricey but worth it. Best location. Nice restaurants.

Great experiencePosted Jun 27, 2013
We stayed for two nights service was excellent. The rooms are small for a 5 star hotel but it comes with an old building in a great unique location. I would like to see that bus tickets are included in the price as are entrance tickets so you don't have to deal with the detail after an arduous trip to Macchu Picchu.

The most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in but certainly not the best. Not necessarily bad but I don't feel it was worth the huge price tag.
