We stayed five nights in this hotel. Our room was a comfortable size with a table and two chairs that made it easy to 'eat in' if we chose. The room also had a washing machine, with washing powder, that we made good use of. The hotel is located close to the Daejeon metro and busses are just around the corner, lots of places for coffee and dining. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again.

Loved this place. It was cozy and quiet. Lot's to do in the area within walking distance. The staff was helpful and spoke English :) so I was grateful cause I know some Korean but I get anxiety when it's time to speak it. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Floor was clean as well as the linen. Really good for a few days stay.

A Pleasant Stay Near City Hall
I love the location. The twin residence suite has decent amenties. This particular room had issues with electrical outlets. But I could make due for may short trip. Very spacious with lots of natural light.

Fantastic place
Hotel Graytone was amazing! The room itself included everything that I needed, laundry, tv, aircon/heating system, stove and microwave. It was unbelievable. Also the hotel is located in central daejeon, its only a 5 minute walk away from all the nightlife/major shopping areas, but just around the corner is plenty of cafes, convenience stores and restaurants.

Good Hotel
Graytone Hotel is a residence type hotel. The rooms have a sink, full size fridg and a washer/dryer. Very handy position to transport and restaurtants.

Good hotel, spacious we got the room for 3pax. Hard bed, receptionist are eager to help, but they have a hard time conversing in english. Lots of places to eat at the back of the hotel.

The staff is so helpful. The hotel was pretty comfortable. Just 5-10 minutes to the bus station. It is a nice hotel if you travel to daejeon and the price is reasonable.

Don't expect western comforts.
For Western travelers and their expectations of a western style Hotel, Hotel Graytone misses the mark. While an Asian traveler may enjoy the extremly firm bed, the western traveler will find these beds more akin to sleeping on the floor or concrete. Although clean and orderly, the room is very small for the comfort of two people. The rooms are set up to be self supportive; meaning each room has it's own (in floor) heat, water heater, clothes washer, a small kitchette. The temperature of the room is slow to adjust, in either direction, due to the in-floor heating system. The shower has no door, so water tends to go places where you don't want it and if more than one person is showering, a wait of 20 minutes is necessary to let the water heater recover. For a "non-smoking" room, the presence of active cigarette smoking from adjacent rooms was obvious. Not a hotel I would choose again.

Simple and Comfortable stay
I visited my friends in Daejeon and was looking for a room for a night. I was satisfied with the room I stayed regarding to the price. Also, it was close to the subway station. (This would be good for travelers!) You can expect: - a coffee shop and a convenience store on the first floor. - late checkin: I went there around 10pm but there was no problem to check in. - everything needed for one-night stay (e.g. tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, disposable razor, 1 bath towel, 2 facial towels, etc.) - a neat room for a person. - a pair of thick curtain on window. You don't expect: - a great view: the window was pretty close to the building next to the hotel.

Good Option for Relatively Inexpensive Stay
I think that the Graytone is a good alternative for travelers looking for a clean and relatively inexpensive option near/around local attractions in Daejeon (Dunsan area). The Graytone is conveniently situated near many restaurants (Korean and Western fastfood, Subway, KFC, Burger King, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, etc); and the Galleria, Homeplus, Movie Theaters are in a 10-15 minute walking distance. The nearest Metro station (City Hall) is about a 2 minute walk away from the Hotel. Many reviewers comment on how clean the Hotel rooms are, and I would agree for the most part. However, the rooms tend to have a musky smell and the bedding/linen, while clean, needs an upgrade (the times I've stayed in the Hotel all of the bedding/towels were torn/tattered). Also, the central heating is TOO high. You can open the windows, but traffic on the street make it difficult to sleep. Additionally, in keeping with what most people said about this Hotel, the beds are quite hard. Soundproofing is also definitely lacking. You can hear all the bumps and other guests moving their chairs across the floors. Some of the Hotel staff seem somewhat friendly, but it feels that they do not go out of their way to help you beyond check in. In fact, if you ask too many questions (whether over the phone or in person), they seem to get annoyed or bothered. I think this is one area that could improve their front desk image and add to their motto about being your "home away from home".

Urban hotel with sounds from the country
My garden suite room on the top floor didn't match the photo. Two thirds of the floor space is a rooftop garden. My kids would have loved it, but was traveling alone and with temps around 50F, it was not very useable. The room also provided authentic sounds of the country - someone nearby was keeping roosters and, even with the windows closed, their crowing could be heard starting around 3 AM each morning. Friends on lower floors could not hear them. Room was very clean and pleasant. Just note that "bathroom" button on wall-mounted light switch panel turns on and off hot water heater, not bathroom lights. Endured a cold shower before I figured that one out.

Expensive "business" hotel from hell.
We got a double luxury room, the second most expensive. Wall outlet near bed was broken out, wire exposed fire and safety risk. No one reported or fixed it. 3 trash cans, two of them full of very gross items, beds were hard, cheap sheets. Worst part is that many soccer teams now stay here so we had a family upstairs dragging furniture around and kids running at 1am. Only other room available was one that was above them instead of under. So at 1:00 in the morning I had to walk out of the hotel, no refund, get a cab, and pay full price to stay a few hours in another hotel (Lotte). The staff apologized but would not offer any refund, and said normally it is just business people but many foreign families recently visiting Korea. For this price I am not disappointed, I am very upset.

My wife and I booked this hotel after reviewing the photographs and reading generally positive guest comments. Contrary to what were said, we did not have a good experience at all. In fact, we did an early check-out as we could not bear to stay in there for a week. First and foremost, the room was definitely not 36 sq metres, as mentioned in the website. It is crammed and far from clean. The bathroom in particular is poorly designed as the floor will be wet after each shower. And yet, the hotel does not even provide a bathroom floor mat. The bidet did not work. The toilet roll holder affixed to the wall was damaged and literally “falling off” and no one bothered to fix it throughout our stay. The staff just put a new toilet roll on the obviously damaged holder each time. The service provided at the front desk was equally lacking. For example, when we asked whether there is any bathroom floor mat, the answer was just a simple “No, we do not have” - No more, no less, no smile, no attempt to help any further. We hardly see the staff smile and greet the guests. Overall, it is a hotel that we will not return to. We will not recommend it either. For the same room rate, there are better options.

The hotel staff was Very helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was immaculate and well appointed, even had laundry soap for the washing machine. The beds are quite firm, which is common in Korea There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, nice park next to city hall--great for letting the kids run about. I was favorably impressed with this hotel and would definitely return, and highly recommend it. Great location, facility and value.

Enjoyable stay at Graytone!
This was our first visit to the beautiful city of Daejeon for a truly international wedding in late December.  Graytone was centrally located and near a subway stop.  There is an onsite 7-11 which proved helpful on our first night when we arrived very late and got the midnight munchies.  And in the mornings, the adorably named "Honey Bee" cafe served both Korean (delicious!) and Western breakfasts complimentarily.  The cafe is accessible internally from the hotel lobby, which means shelter from the winter cold in the mornings.  There are many restaurants and convenience stores within a 3-5 minute walk radius, and the amazing Galleria department store is only a 15-minute walk. The staff at Graytone were professional and helpful. They can assist you in English. They will also lend you a wall adaptor for your North American chargers for a 10,000 won safety deposit.  We loved the heated floors in our room!  We also liked that we could open our windows for fresh air in the mornings.  Because the room is Korean style, we removed our shoes at the door and put them in the shoe cabinet (cool), and used the slippers that the hotel provided.  Each room has its own door bell which makes it feel like a home ;)  We are definitely staying here again when next we visit Daejeon to see the new Korean friends we had made during the wedding!
