“Good for the price”
My only criticism of this good-value and clean hotel was its being unattended after 10pm: arriving after a ten-hour international trip to find an unstaffed, locked building in a strange town is dispiriting. Yes, there was a phone number on the door which produced a helpful voice giving me a code (which apparently should have been Emailed), but not everyone travels with a mobile phone or a computer, and this trend to automated check-in is not welcome; without a functioning phone I would have been stuck. My visit coincided with a major refurbishment of the ground floor, which will no doubt make for attractive street-level restaurant facilities but which of course involved some short-term noise disruption. The room was basic but comfortable, and cleanliness seemed a top priority. The breakfast was the usual varied spread, and the tea/coffee remained there through the day, though losing heat the while since the water was unplugged! The friendly staff were always helpful and my stay was strikingly cheap for its central location in this delightful town.
