.....weekend breakPosted Sep 17, 2013
This Hotel was much what we expected. Very comfortable and an excellent breakfast - best we have ever seen - you name it and you can have it - the breakfast would probably cost £12 - £15 anywhere. The food we found to be excellent and very good value for money. There were some small niggles with the hotel, but nothing to be put off by. Would recommend to anyone looking to go to this beautiful area.

great locationPosted Sep 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
the hotel is in a lovely location, the service very good, but some areas of the hotel need to attention paid to ,m the shower was really inadequate as a shower, different times of the day tried but the same results little water , no pressure, this was a shame as the hotel is is a lovely old building.

Clean room - grim bathroom.Posted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: Lovely building, grounds and bedlinen.
Cons: Could clean the bath.
This is a lovely hotel, beautiful setting and very nice rooms, clean bedlinen etc. BUT - the bathroom was a very different story. Fittings were a bit old and worn, which I don't mind too much but there was the dirt of ages on things like the shower head. When I got into the bath I had the horrible experience of feeling what felt like several previous guests' dried on bath scum on the sides of the bath. Triple yeuk and made me a bit cross given that I was paying quite a lot for one night's bed and breakfast! Also, I couldn't get any breakfast before 8am - I had to bolt it down to get to my planned activity for that day in time. I was really disappointed. If you are going to stay here, clean the bath before you get in it and don't plan on being able to set off anywhere before 8.30 - 9am.

Very friendly.Comfortable and the staff were greatPosted Aug 24, 2013
Pros: Clean ,good food and friendly. The African pictures and Family photographs were v interesting . The indvidual patio was a nice feature.
Cons: Apart from the pictures, the decor was a little tired and the room television should be larger. A marked walking trail in the grounds would be nice.
Location: Rockcliffe and Kipford are nearby for fine walks, beaches and pubs.Further afield there are delightful abbeys, castles, gardens, houses and scenery
Enjoyed the food, comfortable bed, slightly retro ambience, definitely homely with reasonable prices for both food and drink. The bar was lively and the menu covered all tastes. We arrived on Wednesday, curry night ,which was a pleasant surprise and most enjoyable.

great base for a walking holiday and dog loversPosted Jun 25, 2013
Pros: great place to take your dog, friendly staff
Cons: Inside and outside in need of refurbishing
Location: Great place for walking the coastal pathways
We enjoyed our stay, the staff were great but the hotel is in need of some refurbishing. Great place if you have a dog with lots of great coastal walks and friendly pubs

A Very Tired HotelPosted Aug 20, 2012 on Hotels.com
Although the food was very nice and the staff are friendly, the hotel itself is in desperate need of updating/makover. My room had not been cleaned from the previous occupants, which is not satisfactory at all. There are nice views surrounding the area, but no pub or village elsewhere in the area, unless you go to Kippford which has a bay area with yauchts. Overall I would not stay at this hotel again - shame as it could be nice if money was spent on it.

We have stayed at the Clonyard several times and have always been satisfied with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, although the hotel itself could do with a little re-decoration. It is ideal for dog-owners as our room (8) has direct access to the grounds. The food has always been very good, both breakfast and evening meals and we will definitely stay again.

Clonyard HotelPosted May 1, 2011 on Hotels.com
Very large room with a separate sitting area and comfortable bed, although the fixtures and fittings were "tired". The bathroom was dated and in need of a thorough clean. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent and served by a pleasant young lady. The evening meal was good and was well-priced.
