Night in Dallas

Posted Aug 19, 2014
This is our second time to stay at The Adolphus while in Dallas for the theatre. It is close and convenient to everything we want to do and is a lovely old hotel with lots of character and charm.

Historic hotel close to the convention center

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Proximity to convention center, restaurants and other area interests.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Convention center is just a few blocks as is the JFK museum and the aquarium. Easy walking….
I was attending a conference at the convention center and was looking for a hotel within walking distance. I was pleasantly surprised at this unique building and its history. While over 100 years old, it has most of the modern amenities. It was comfortable and quiet and the staff were top notch. There was a really cool restaurant, "The French Room" modeled after the tv show the Abbey so bring nice clothes and try it!

Avoid this place like the plague.

Pros: The valet staff was wonderful!
Cons: Everything. This place was run like a Motel 6 that charges like a 4 or 5 star!
Location: Downtown Dallas has many exciting places to see, top-notch dining, museums, night life and modern hotels!!!!
Here is a short summary of our stay at the Adolphus hotel on 08 Aug 2014. The check in was uneventful. After 1 and 1/2 hours, our bags had not made it to our room. I called the concierge but nobody answered. It kept rolling to the hotel operator who knew nothing about nothing. After going downstairs and demanding my luggage, the concierge himself took it to our room. After we finally got someone up to the 15th floor to bring us batteries for the TV remote(they should check those when they turn the room), it became apparent that our air conditioner wasn't working. On a 100 degree day, this is serious! After a maintenance man spent the better part of an hour fiddling with our unit, we had to leave for a wedding. He assured us that the problem was fixed. When we returned to our room at 2:30 am, our room was even hotter. Have you ever tried to change rooms at a hotel at 3:15 am? Not fun! They did give us a larger room but it took forever for the new room to cool down so we could finally get some sleep. The hotel never apologized for any of the unfortunate events that happened during our stay. It makes me believe that these events are all too commonplace. Enter at your own risk.......

Great stay, right downtown to experience Big D. No need for a cab, plenty of things to do right near you.

Classy & traditional,

Posted Aug 3, 2014
They are remodeling this GRAND, traditional hotel….over 40 million I hear to be finished in 2015. But I couldn't see where they were remodeling because they had it blocked off. One of their chandeliers alone cost 6 figures. Service is over the top! :) Know that parking is only valet and in upper $20's for 24 hours. Freshii (very healthy fast food) is on the side of the hotel. AAA 5 star restaurant in the hotel, the french room and another restaurant that is more casual. Beautiful lobby area with several sitting areas. Nice large quest rooms that will soon be remodeled. I had to turn the air down further than in my house to get it cool. Very comfortable bed. I didn't see a safe in the room 1407.

Outstanding Hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, location, staff.
Cons: not a thing
Location: Walking distance to many activities. Great location.
Excellent service from the time I drove up to picking up my pickup at valet. Room was nice size, clean, great view of city. Very convenient to local nightlife. Everyone was very knowledgeable of the area. Mary K had a national event going on at the hotel during my stay and hardly knew it. Room was very quiet. That's appreciated. Highly recommend the Adolphus for anyone staying in Dallas.
