Cheap Remodel of an Old Hotel

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: Update Google Maps info Update inefficient old fixtures Charge what the room is worth Scrape the popcorn ceilings
Location: Location was good. Next to SMU, lots to do nearby.
At first, the entrance, lobby, and bar are beautiful- then you go to your room. You can tell this must have been a cheap remodel from the shut down Holiday Inn, there were even bare wires sticking out of the wall in my room next to the nightstand. Popcorn ceilings. Bathroom was the worst. Old, inefficient fixtures, the tub was gross, the plumbing rattles within the walls, there was soap scum in the tub and hand sink. The mattress was old- very Best Western. It was worth half of what I paid. Will not be staying here again, wouldn't recommend.

Nice hotel. the hotel temp could have been cooler. We never could get our AC to cool our room like we would have liked.

Breakfast

Posted Jul 20, 2015
everything was great except breakfast. The waffle iron went out and so did the toaster. The bed was very comfortable. I would stay at this hotel again.

Extremely slow elevators, as only two were working. I was expecting more from our room. Bathroom was ridiculously small.

Our First Stay at The Magnolia

Posted Jun 29, 2015
We changed our reservation from another hotel to stay at the Magnolia. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities, the breakfast, the staff, and Magnolia's tasty merlot. We shall return!

Great stay!

Posted Jun 14, 2015
The staff is very friendly and the service is wonderful! Unfortunately, pool was dirty and not well maintained. The hotel is transitioning from the Holiday Inn to the Magnolia Hotel so it could just be an oversight with so many things going on. My room was very nice and very clean. Room service was excellent and the food is wonderful. Breakfast in the morning was free and even had waffles. We had complimentary wine in the evening, and my son had complimentary milk and cookies as well. Great experience and will definitely return.
