Downtown and friendly

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: Staff was great and helpful. Valet service was well worth the price. Good breakfast and loved the cookies and milk at night.
Cons: Slow elevators (in the process of upgrading) Bed was dipping in the middle.
Location: Short walk to the 6th Street Museum
Only stayed for two nights and had a pleasant stay. Staff was helpful and friendly, hotel was very busy and desk was overwhelmed at time of check in but they handled it quickly and professionally. Support staff was there to help with bags and made sure they got to your room as soon as you were checked in. Would stay there again.

Nice hotel, but loud air conditioner

Posted Nov 22, 2014
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Loud air conditioning
Location: In the middle of down town. Nice burger place about 5 minutes away.
Very clean, comfortable bed. Air conditioner is so loud it continually woke me up. Shower was super hot and wouldn't cool down. Staff was friendly. Cookies and milk was awesome and breakfast was first class.

Nice hotel..not a lot going on nearby!!

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: Hotel is within walking distance to some attractions and restaurants.
Cons: Elevators were slow.
Location: Good restaurants especially CBD Provisions and Iron Cactus.
Hotel staff was very good. Elevators were very slow. Within walking distance to some attractions and good restaurants. Room, on the 23rd floor, had some noise from the air handlers in the hotel roof. But, the noise ended up drowning out the airplane and surrounding room noises. Overall good place.

Right now they are renovating elevators. So, just couple extremely slow elevators are in operation. Building is 27 stories. Trip from 20th floor to the loby (including wait time) often takes 15 minutes.

Magnolia Hotel

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: The architecture
Cons: The hotel needs a total remodel
My Boss and a co-worker stayed at the Magnolia Hotel in Dallas and said it was the worst hotel they ever stayed in. The elevators were not working properly and they were on the 21st and 22nd floors and would wait for 20 minutes every time they needed to to to the lobby. Because of the elevators they were moved to the 4th floor where the rooms smelled like a sewer and were not that clean. Staff while my boss was waiting to order a beverage while waiting for my co-worker were too busy cleaning tables to wait on Mr. Bird, after some wait they finally let Mr. Bird order a beverage and then went right back to cleaning tables.

My husband and I have stayed at the Magbolia several times. We keep going back because of the amazing customer service and overall feel of the hotel.

Good Location but Sub-par Service

Posted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: Service staff, decent room, decent breakfast, nice bar and good fitness center.
Cons: Communication with the customers (they could've mentioned the lock change) and attention to detail when cleaning the rooms.
Location: The location is downtown, so there is plenty to do nearby. Our favorite restaurant was the Dallas Fish Market, which was expensive but worth it.
This hotel is located in the heart of downtown Dallas very close to the DART line's Akard Station. We used the DART for travel to DFW, the George W Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the North Park Mall, among other places. The hotel staff was able to check us in very early at around 11:30 AM, which was a plus, and we had two adjacent rooms. However, the first problem arose when we returned from a long day in Fort Worth to find that our room locks had been changed and our keys didn't work. We called the front desk and they sent up replacements, with no apology or explanation, in about 15 minutes, which was unacceptable. Once in the room, which had been cleaned, we discovered that the coffee supply was not replenished (this happened again the next day). Our travel companion in the adjacent room had no coffee pot - perhaps we were expected to pool resources. The positives include helpful front-desk staff, friendly bar service and a clean and well-appointed fitness center. The business center on the second floor had a non-functioning printer, which I discovered trying to print our boarding passes, but the third floor center's printer worked. In short, while this wasn't a terrible place, I'm sure that there are other hotels in the area that are similarly priced which pay better attention to detail and service for the customer. I'd look for an alternative on our next trip to the Dallas area.
