Good hotel in a trendy area

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Hotel was nice. Very industrial. Room was pretty neat with a great view of downtown. The pillows were the only negative on the room. Very large and very lumpy. Difficult to sleep on. Neither of us slept well. The Soda Bar was way to pricey for what it was and the staff was in no hurry to serve me. There were 4 people at the bar when I arrived and I stood for over 5 minutes before I went outside & sat down. Again, minimal people outside yet no one offered to help me. I went back to the bar and had to flag someone down to get an overpriced drink. Service was equally bad that evening for my wife's birthday gathering. Overall the hotel was nice but we would never go to their bar again and we decided not to eat at the hotel restaurant purely because the service was so bad in other areas. We went across the street to Cedars Social and it was fantastic!

Nice hotel in a terrible location

Posted Jul 27, 2015
This hotel would be perfect if it hey could just relocate it to a better, safer part of Dallas. I was truly worried our car was going to be stolen while parked there when we were driving through the area to the hotel. Although, I suppose the police station and jail being across the street makes it a little more secure. I still would NOT walk around he hotel after dark. The hotel itself though, is BEAUTIFUL. The decor is industrial modern with a chic twist which is perfect for this converted warehouse. This hotel is really not kid friendly. The pool is rooftop and more of a club atmosphere than family time. They do allow children but I wouldn't bring mine here if I had them. The rooms are spacious and modern with the same decor. It is a former warehouse so soundproofing was not an option, but since we had enjoyed their cocktails at the bar on the rooftop it didn't matter. Overall this a great hotel, but I prefer the Uptown area of Dallas.

Cool swanky hotel - great location!

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Rooftop pool, comfy beds, general look and feel of the hotel.
Cons: Food wasn't worth the price - our burgers were burnt and the buns were HARD :( Not worth 12 bucks.
Location: Location is GREAT - Arboretum, concert venues, zoo, etc - all within a few miles. We ubered it everywhere. Very convenient.
There are many photo opportunities just within the hotel itself. It's got a great modern contemporary vibe to it. The rooftop pool was a lot of fun! Everyone was very nice and accommodating. It's in such a great spot in downtown Dallas - so many fun things to do within just a few miles.

Nice hotel but staff let them down

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Great design of hotel with fantastic views of Dallas from the pool. The hotel itself has great potential if the staff were more customer friendly. During a two night stay, I left the notification on my door requesting that my room was cleaned. When I returned later that day, the notification had been turned around but my room hadn't been cleaned. I rang reception and requested that my room was cleaned. I was assured it would happen promptly. It never did. The restaurant downstairs was closed for a private function and I was advised to visit the pool bar which also serves food. Sitting at the bar as other diners were, I ordered a pizza. It arrived in a pizza takeaway box. I requested that it was served on a plate in a similar fashion as the other diners. I was adruptly told that that's how it was served. I requested a plate, and after quite a wait I was provided with one and had to transfer the food onto it, as eating from a pizza box was not the ambience I was paying for. Overall these experiences tarnished my impression of the hotel.

Great Potential - Needs Some Work

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Location, rooftop bar
Cons: Service! Front-desk staff, cleaning, restaurant staff
Location: Nothing is really in walking distance and it's a sketchy neighborhood to walk by yourself. There is a cool coffee shop located across the street.
I stayed at Nylo because of the proximity to one of our offices. It's a really cool building and I love the decor and "loft-living" style. The rooftop bar has amazing views and is open-air. I stayed in a loft room and it was spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The bed and pillows were great too. The street noise is a problem - the windows are very thin. Ask for a room away from a busy street if you can. Where this hotel falls very short is service. Upon check-in, I was asked for a card for incidentals, which is standard. However, she swiped my card, THEN handed me a form to initial agreeing to a large per day hold on the card. When I mentioned that she should have informed me of this before swiping my card, she said "whatever". I was also not told that you have to insert the key card in a slot by the door in order to operate the lights. When I called to ask, the same person said "it's not hard to figure out". Cleaning service needs to be improved - the in-room coffee mugs were filthy, my feet were black from walking barefoot in the room and 2 of my towels had old makeup stains and one of them was ripped. Breakfast was mediocre both days I ate there. They don't have nearly enough help, service was slow and I ordered the granola that was supposed to come with a mix of berries and it was served missing strawberries. When I asked, the waiter said they were out. He didn't offer to substitute anything else either. Breakfast the 2nd day took over an hour to serve. Needs work!

Nice hotel and nice staff.

Well done renovation, facility was clean and staff was helpful. In an area that is undergoing an urban renewal, however there is not much within walking distance. Nice coffee shop and convenience store across the street.

The hotel was fine.

Posted Jun 4, 2015
The front staff were friendly but the place was a little overpriced for what it was. It is outside of the downtown centre but downtown is a bit of a far walk. The upstairs pool area is nice but drinks and food is quite expensive. The room was reasonably nice, but nothing extravagant.

Old friends weekend

Pros: Cool...great scene.
In town visiting buddies and one recommend NYLO. It was great. I walked or Ubered everywhere and enjoyed the Pool Bar as well as Cedar Social. I'd recommend it.
