Great location

Posted Nov 22, 2014
Cons: Because of the padded headboard, the bed tended to flip up if one sat on the end. Not the most comfortable bed. Coffee in room would have been nice.
Hotel is the old Palomar, right across the central expressway from SMU. Very convenient for all Highland Park activities. There is ample, if not attractive, dog walking behind the hotel and under a high line.

Pros: The hotel was quiet and the customer service at the check in desk was excellent.
Cons: For the cost per night to stay in the hotel, I think they could offer free internet service.
Location: The hotel is in walking distance of two strip malls, one with a few major retail outlets with a variety of differnt things to do.
Overall the rooms were clean, but I could tell there was some fast cleaning being done at times. I think it was a not good customer service to charge to use the computers. Most of the hotels I'v been to have free internet service. However it was $5.95 for every 15 minutes. It was further from the convention center, then advertised. If you were the only one on the road, time wise it would have worked. If you are going for an event at the Dallas Convention Center, be prepared to use public transportation unless you rent a car.

There where no robes in the room. The vents in the bathrooms where clogged with dust. I was not given a key to the mini bar at check in. Valet staff was not very friendly and slow.

Thanks for staying with us at The Highland Dallas. We are refining the details we will be including in our guest rooms. While we test out the perfect robe to include in all of our rooms, we have a select number available for our guests on request! The new robe will be a beauty. I am sorry for the lack of attention to the details in your room. Cleanliness should be a given and our staff at the Front Door are almost always on point and friendly. I am sorry you didn't have that experience. Please come back and allow us to show you a much better experience! I know we can. Close to the freeway but a world apart

From the friendly valets that let our son park on our ticket while we shared cars and went sightseeing to the lovely bartender who went out of her way to get my husband and I a cup of coffee gratis, way past breakfast time, we never met a staff member who was not helpful, friendly and courteous. Our room on the eight floor was beautifully furnished, quiet, and clean with one the most spacious bathrooms I've encountered lately in a standard room. All in all, a lovely place to stay. Did I mention the complimentary copy of the NY Times sunday edition? I should have. I am sure we will return to The Highland when we visit Dallas again.

Wonderful hotel.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: A small coffee shop or someplace where something quick could be picked up.
Location: I went to the George W. Bush presidential library on the SMU campus which is very close (so close that I was able to use the hotel car and driver).
I found this hotel after trying 5 or 6 other Dallas hotels which were either full or asking for exorbitant rates. It is very stylish and the hotel staff is superb. My family member and I were there for medical reasons and the young lady that was the hostess in the hotel restaurant could not have been more accommodating. She allowed us (2) to sit in a booth that was designed for 6 because my family member needed a soft backed seat. The food was delicious and served by very friendly staff. We also had lunch and breakfast in this restaurant. The rooms were very nice. There is a complimentary cocktail hour with Texas wines and beer. If I had one complaint it would be that it would be nice to have a venue where you could pick up a quick breakfast or lunch. This is definitely a hotel that I would stay in again.

Cons: self parking might be offered??
Modern decor and attitude. Quiet and relaxing even though it's on Central Expressway, next to SMU, Dart light rail and Mockingbird station. Great place to stay if you want to visit downtown Dallas, but not stay downtown. lot's of attractions nearby, but really peaceful and nice.

Never Again

Pros: Beautiful hotel, great food in restaurant, outstanding housekeeping
Cons: See above
We had 3 problems. Problem Number One: I had reserved/prepaid through Expedia 3 rooms. Two for two nights (10/3 and 10/4), one for one night (10/4), all on my credit card. My husband and I arrived Friday night, and I was asked it I valet parked. I said no. I was told the hotel could not be responsible for the security of my car, and I said that was fine. We went to the restaurant and were seated outside at our request. The hostess did not tell the waitress that we were out there and it took some time to get service. I ordered a martini. When I bit into the olive, it was extremely painful because the olive had a pit. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she said, “oh, yeah, I keep forgetting to tell people that” Why would you serve olives with pits, I asked. She informed me that the hotel ordered the wrong ones and they had to use them up. One of my sons arrived that night and, as the front desk had recommended that I go ahead and check into both rooms, he was able to pick up his key without incident. He joined us in the bar and we had a lovely dinner, great food and great service. Problem Number Two: The second son arrived Saturday, 10/4, at 4:00. I went to the front desk with him. His room was not ready, there was a very bad storm in Dallas the Thursday before where the hotel’s laundry had lost power. They had no clean linens and did not know when they would arrive. I asked why nobody had told me this earlier, the night before so I could check him in when

I am so sorry for the difficulties you experienced during your recent stay at The Highland Dallas. We really do pride ourselves on paying much more attention to the details of our guest's stays. I will make certain to address the olives at our bar in Knife Modern Steak. The unusually strong storm which hit the area knocked out power to multiple parts of Dallas and to some of our service providers like the Laundry company who cleans our towels and sheets. We tried to keep up on our own, but fell short in getting all of our rooms cleaned and ready in a timely manner for our arriving guests. I apologize for the inconveniences and do hope you will give us another chance to exceed your expectations on your next visit to Dallas. All best, David David Lemmond General Manager

Cons: The room had dirty sheets (ugh!) and the bathroom sink and toilet weren't clean on my arrival.
Visiting my grandchildren and was hoping for a nice stay but the room upon arrival was not clean. It was better after the second day but the bathroom cleanliness still needed a lot of improvement.
