“Very clean rooms”
Rooms are very clean. Bathrooms have been refurbished. Although near Danbury, the town of Bethel is a quaint, small town. There is a nice 24 hour diner across the street.
“Value”
2 nights Thanksgiving holiday.....functional value for price paid
“Bethel' HoJo's”
We have stayed at this hotel before but only for 1 night. That time it was just fine except for the lighting in the bathroom which lacked any form of backing and allowed us to see the inside of the walls above it. That has remained unchanged. This time the main problem was that in late May the weather requires the use of the air conditioning and though it worked the air coming out of it smelled like urine. We ended up going to the Target that is virtually right next door and buying some Lysol to spray into the air conditioner vents. This didn't fix the problem until I found how to remove the filter and drenched it with the Lysol two or three times that day and each day after that. Either we had gotten used to the smell or it had been vanquished. Otherwise the hotel is just fine for what it is, a place to sleep while on a trip. They serve a decent continental breakfast but the stuff they were calling orange juice this time wasn't even orange and couldn't be juice. The bagels and other items were fine. If you need breakfast there is a diner virtually right across the street that serves a good breakfast. There is also a small pastry and donut shop just a couple of doors up the street that my wife says has good coffee. It is convienently located close to the highway, Target and within a mile or so of grocery stores.
“Very clean, good night's sleep”
This Ho Jo's was very clean, polished floors, clean bathroom. The King sized bed extremely comfortable, even if bedding in need of update. A no frills room. The most disappointing part was the "breakfast." Very meager selection of pastries, and two types of cereal. Old juice vending machine. Coffee mediocre, no real cream. But dining area very clean.
“HJ-Bethal-Oct 2009”
The hotel had a good location and cost was in my price range however I was disappointed with the customer service. By the time I got in the area of the hotel it was getting dark and I got off a different exit than I was suppose to. I called the hotel to ask for directions because I knew I was very close - come to find out I was less than 2 miles from the hotel and only two roads away. As I said I called the hotel on my cell and got the night clerk. I told him where I was - what road I was on and asked how to get to the hotel. He told me to get off the highway on the exit I missed. After explaining that I had gotten off of the exit and was on Rt. 6 already. The man did not speak very good english and insisted that I get off the highway and come down Rt. 6. After trying to explain the situation for a number of times, I asked to speak with a manager. Very abruptly he told me that he did not live in the area, repeated the same directions he had previous and said he could not give me any more information. I hung up and lucky found a town policeman who directed me, explaining that I was so very close. One of the most important things about a hotel saty is the customer service and this hotel is lacking badly.
“Not Satisfied”
1. We were traveling with other family members and we could not have a room next to each other. One group was on the first floor and one group was on the second floor. 2. We had 3 adults in the room and the maid only left towels for 2 people on three separate occasions even after being asked to leave the correct amount. 3. The refrigerator was controlled by the light switch and we were not told about this. We had purchased a fruit tray for $30.00 to take to a family reunion party and the fruit spoiled because the refrigerator was not operating. When we brought this problem to the manager he told us that a previous tenant had moved the refrigerator and that is why it was controlled by the light switch. After the maid cleaned the room she kept turning the switch off. We had to buy a styrofoam cooler to keep our other food items from going bad. 4. The hair dryer did not function because the manager did not explain that it was controlled by a different outlet other than the one it was plugged in to. 5. The manager was aware of the problems prior to our check in but did not provide any guidance on how to use the equipment in the room. 6. A group of people checked into five rooms on Saturday night and were extremely loud and disturbing until 1:00 a.m. When the manager was asked about this the next morning he replied that he was "watching" them.
