Modern hotel and very good location for beachesPosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: The lage rooms and the view of the bay from our room.
Cons: The restaurant menu was somewhat limited but the Indian Cuisine was very good.
Location: Slipway Shopping centre for aupermarket and shopping, However the city of Dar is at least 30 mins by car given the high volume of traffic!
The overall experience was very good and the staff were courteous and helpful.

Ok hotel, shame about the foodPosted Jul 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
It's always the food that lets these hotels down. Lovely hotel, good setting and nice outside pool area but just not enough variety and quality food options. One rather soulless buffet indoors and the pool bar that seemed to only have pizza. If you're unlucky enough to choose to have dietary requirements, like vegetarianism, or just a desire to eat healthily then there are no options. What a shame.

double tree by Hilton as Dar es SalaamPosted Jun 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Location of the hotel is very good. By the sea, but sheltered in the Oyster Bay and close to the shops and eating places in the Slipway. The hotel is very nice, clean and impressive. The restaurant is good but not as special as the prices suggest. The pool and outside facilities are very good. The rooms are a generous size: clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Comfort and conveniencePosted Aug 23, 2011
Having stayed in many hotels in Dar and surrounding area with mixed reviews I must say how impressed I was with the hotel. It is conveniently located in Misaki, close to the ocean and various notable locations such as Slipway where one can wander around, get an ice-cream, a coffee, buy a book or shop for souveniers. The hotel is clean with a friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious and very comfortable with in room coffee/tea equipment. I will be going back to stay on my return to Dar. One issue I found was that the placemats are not changed on the tables enough as the tables I sat at were often spotted with food splotches from a previous guest. Please use paper disposable mats as they are more sanitary. Please, in the land of heavenly coffee offer the guests "real" coffee and not instant coffee. Train the staff to make proper filter coffee and keep the pots cleaned so the bitter residue does not transfer to the guest's cup of fresh brew. Breakfast was not bad but perhaps a menu change from day to day with the offerings of side dishes such as potatoes, beans and tomatoes. All staff were friendly and helpful. The ambience of the hotel overall is warm and welcoming.

Far from airport, close to everything elsePosted Feb 1, 2011 on Hotels.com
My only complaint was the $40 shuttle fare to the boat harbor. You can take a cab for about $17. The hotel was very western, huge breakfast, AC worked well and the beds were comfortable. It was also close to the restaurant area, and is an easy (and safe) walk there. This could have been a Doubletree anywhere in the world; would stay again.

nice hotel on the penninsulaPosted Aug 25, 2010
The Doubletree is on the penninsula, which is a quiet location but not close to downtown. Also depending on traffic it can take several hours to get to the airport, so leave early if you have a flight to catch. The airport shuttle is more expensive than arranging for a cab. The hotel and rooms were very nice. There is an outdoor pool, fitness room, and you can also eat meals outdoors on the patio overlooking the water. The breakfast buffet offers a good selection of tasty items. The staff were all very freindly and helpful. If you want a quiet and relaxing location, this is a great choice.

very nice typical Hilton hotel. Slightly overpriced and lacks a really good restaurant. The tv was on the blink and not fixed.
