A Wonderful Surprise!Posted Oct 17, 2013
Pros: The view from the top floor, the food and the beautiful beach location. The day party with music on the weekends was a lot of fun too.
Cons: The road approaching the resort could be fixed up a little and the rooms need a small touch up.
Location: I did not have time but there were road trips to bagamoyo/zanzibar, horse riding & Dar Zoo all organised as activities, something I look forward to do
I was a bit unsure of the hotel do to the mixed nature of the reviews but decided to give it a shot, and what a great surprise! The location is awesome and the staff all smiling and warm ready to assist at anything they can. The food was delicious, their barbecue chicken (reshmi kebab?) and the indian dishes were fantastic. I am a curry lover and the tikka masala was just great! The breakfast was a surprise too as they brought out a local indian bread that is not only great to look at (puffed up like a balloon when it arrives) but went great with the eggs. The rooms are decent sized, a little bit on the older side, but very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were average. Overall, I will definitely return for the location, the staff, the food and the beautiful pool and white sandy beaches.

beach resortPosted Oct 7, 2012
Pros: the pool
Location: location is good if you can stay for a few days, not a good place for a quick overnight.
We booked this place for one overnight in Dar Es Salaam. We thought it was close to the airport and it really wasn't and you had to take a ferry across an inlet to get to s. beach where this place is. Took us two hours to get there including the ferry time. If you have multiple nights to stay there, I think it would be a cool place to land yourself and get out of the city and hang on the beach. This place reminded me of a beach resort.

Excellent beach front location and helpful staffPosted Jun 7, 2012
Pros: Clean room, aircon worked well, staff very helpful, decent meal and well equipped bar
Cons: They were doing some work to get ready for the season, a pity we were not here a week later, as the work they have done seems to be of a high standard
Location: Dont be put off by the chaotic ferry ride across the bay, the views from the beach make the extra effort worth the trip, it is Africa after all...
After a long and challenging day in Dar es Salaam we were met by friendly staff who bent over backwards to accomodate our needs. We enjoyed a splendid meal and a few drinks at the well equipped bar and the management made every effort to ensure our stay was comfortable, and even offered to assist us with our early morning transportation requirements. The setting of the hotel, and the quaint ferry ride across the bay helps you forget that you are near the chaos of the city, and if I am ever back in Dar I would be happy to stay at South Beach again.

Avoid South Beach Resort, if you are on business !Posted May 25, 2012
Pros: Try to avoid paying 100% in advance for booking b'coz under no circumstances, you will get the refund for any changes later.
Cons: The room's condition - very old style - like the ones beside bus stand in any C class town of India
Location: Being a resort, is very far from city, but once you reach there & if you are on a holiday with family, this is a good place to enjoy the beach.
First of all, it was a wrong choice I made while booking b'coz it is a Hotel for holidaying / relaxing whereas the purpose of my visit was business. The room looked good in pic. in the internet - which was the culprit; so I did not take any more pics. ! The rooms are not cozy ( the bed was full of insect drop outs ) & the shower & taps were not working, later I changed the room, which was slightly better for these items. However, in the evening this entire place was full of energy with music & dance with 100's of people all over the place ! Again, on Sunday the loud music starts in the morning which goes on upto 10.30 P.M. non-stop ! Then the approach from A'port / city is a nightmare as every time you need to cross the sea back waters by a ferry which would take > an hour on both directions. Also this place is very far from the a'port & they charge $50/- & $40/- to any other place in the city, whereas it is $3/- max. for all other cabs in city !! This is absolute cheating !

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR LIFEPosted May 20, 2012
HOTEL IS 1.5 HOURS FROM THE AIRPORT HOTEL INFESTED WITH BED BUGS AND MOSQUITOS STALE FOOD SERVED IN THE RESTAURANT SERVICE STAFF INEFFICIENT AND UNTRAINED WIFI IS 10000 TZ FOR ONE HOUR. THE UPKEEP OF THE FACILITY MAKES IT APPEAR LIKE A FILTHY TRAIN STATION THAN A RESORT. THE INDIAN MANAGER WHO IS INCHARGE OF THE UPKEEP IS ARROGANT AND HAS AN ATTITUDE. A WEBSITE LIKE EXPEDIA.COM SHOULD DROP THIS HOTEL FROM THE SEARCH ALTOGETHER.
