Great Location

Posted Apr 14, 2013
Pros: The location was excellent we paid for a mountain view, unfortunately it was always hazy so we didn't get to see them weather permitting you would.
Cons: There are about 70 steps to into the hotel.
Location: Very close to shops, bars & restaurants.
The staff were very helpful & friendly. The location is excellent, it is very close to the bars & restaurants and not too far to the shops. The railway station is about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel gave us a map so we were able to do self walking tours of Darjeeling.

Splendid experience

Posted Apr 7, 2013
It was a pleasure to have stayed in Dekeling. Very central location. Every single person, from the owner to the staff were very polite and well behaved. Service was spot on. And there was a personal touch too. On my return trip from Rimbick, I was booked into another hotel, which offered me a disastrous windowless room cold as the North Pole. I got out after trying to cope for three hours (they did not chnge my room and the money was lost) and came to Dekeling again. Hearing my hardship, they offered me a discount on one of their super deluxe rooms! I was overwhelmed. They offered me a heater free of cost as well, which I declined as the room was not that cold. I will never forget the experience and will surely return to the same hotel.

Friendly hotel

A friendly hotel staff really helpful. Good breakfast available. it was good to meet other guests in the lounge. We found the steps up quite challenging in the high altitude. Quite snug with a hot water bottle but not deluxe. good value

Friendly staff.Excellent views from the lobby when clear.Good breakfast.Good central location.Reasonably priced.Too many steps to climb.Rooms too cold-not enough hot water bottles oneday-they could give just one for two of us-they should be more liberal with hotwater bottles.

Best Darjeeling Experience

Posted Feb 13, 2013
If you're a true traveler this hotel is for you. You'll really experience Darjeeling. Rooms are rustic but so clean and with mountain views. Cold but they give you a hot water bottle to put bed to warm it up! The owners and staff are so warm and gracious. The shared lounge/living room floor with wood burning stove is so cozy and other travelers great. And the views from that room of the Himalayans are spectacular! This was my favorite stop and hotel in India!

Fantastic views!

We had a room with great views of the Himalayan Mountains - unbelievable! There was good hot water in the shower although the bathroom was small. The bedroom itself had 2 beds and 2 chairs and a small table. We rented a heater from the hotel to keep us warm on the chilly nights. They provided a breakfast for a fee but we did not eat there. There is also a very large lounge area with comfortable seating and wonderful views of those Himalayan Mts. The staff is very helpful. There is WiFi connection available. We would definitely stay here again if we return.

good rate quality/price, charming owner

Posted Nov 23, 2012
Pros: A cosy and warm ambiance, hepfull staff, good location.
Cons: The night can be noisy because of the barking dogs but it is a problem every where in Darjeeling, except if your hotel is located far from downtown.
Location: good location near the main spot and very easy for visiting the city and walking. in the tea plantation or to the Zoo...
A nice place to stay in Darjeeling, Very good location with a mountain view, Good rate quality/price, The place and the rooms are clean and the living room with heater very cosy. You can share your day's experience with other customers while drinking Darjeeling tea. The owner is very friendly and hepfull. When we arrived we had a reservation problem and the hotel's owner help us in order to have a good stay. She also gave us good touristic places to visit. She really takes care of her customers. We already recommanded this hotel to our friends.

Hotel with a view

Posted Oct 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
To reach our room with a view we climbed 99 steps. We were in Darjeeling the last week of September and saw Mt. Kangchenjunga from our room (5A) and the breakfast room. The Zoo, Tibetan Refugee Center, Tea Estate etc. were within walking distance and provided good exercise. If you contact the hotel by email a driver will be sent to get you. It costs more than a taxi arranged at the airport but eliminates the hassle. Altho the hotel does not provide maid service the staff is helpful and ready to assist guests. Mrs. Norbu is a gracious hostess. The hotel was clean and comfortable but there were a few mornings when the dog had been in the breakfast room first. I highly recommend the hotel. The location and price are right.
