"Central Sydney hotel with character"
1888 is an intimate, well run hotel with tasteful touches of history and character. As soon as we checked in, the staff were cheerful, attentive and obviously had good local knowledge. We ordered a celebratory bottle of sparkling at check in that arrived promptly to our room with a hand written 'happy birthday' card. A nice touch. Everyone from the front desk to the cafe staff were friendly and helpful. Our king room wasn't overly spacious but the high ceilings made it feel bigger. The room was spotless clean and the small technological features, complimentary iPad with Wifi, was fabulous. Our only grievance was the heating and cooling in the room. We adjusted the temperature to heat to 25c but for some reason the system kept defaulting to A/C and the room never got warmer than 19 or 20c, making our winter night's sleep less comfortable than it should've been. Other than that, the breakfast was yummy and the service kept kicking goals.

"Great location for long weekend"
Ideal location for limited time in Sydney, with ballroom champs one day, another for local sights, shopping and sunshine another and most within walking distance - loved the sushi train just a few doors away. The Lion King show was amazing and well worth including in the trip.

"Great hotel but why do I have to pay for wifi?"
This is an excellent hotel, situated in a great location. But, nowadays most travellers would expect the cost of wifi to be included in the room rate. It is very strange that Adina chooses to charge extra for access to such a basic item.

"Luxurious hotel in great location"
Staff were friendly, helpful and made everything easy. Late night cocktail at the cafe/bar in foyer was a nice way to end the night. Room nicely appointed, though bathroom still had some hair from previous guest. Great location, will definitely come again.

"Thank God for good staff"
The restaurant was mediocre as the food was cold to warm as the kitchen is so far away. Breakfast was awfull too, I ate there once. My God, it is hard to stuff up a breakfast with such a small variety of items. Sloppy and cold scrambled eggs, crispy and cold fried eggs, those anemic white sausages that foreign people buy and baked beans with 4/5 different types of beans. And a conciderable walk from the elevator, this isn't too much of a hassle but while i'm saying... The restaurant staff however were very good. The front office staff were very nice and efficient too. in-fact, every staff member I met was pleasant, smiling and helpfull.

"One week stay to perform comedy gigs"
I'm from Perth and I had 3 comedy gigs to perform in Sydney over 3 nights. The gigs were in Glebe, Surry Hills and King St Wharf. I wanted somewhere that was a good central base. The location of this hotel is ideal, perfect tourist location. It's easy walking distance to Wynyard train station and to York St and George St where most buses leave from. At night, I simply caught a bus or train to my gigs in Glebe and Surry Hills. 20-30mins max travel expending on peak hour traffic. I was amazed how pleasant and relatively quick it was to walk to all the well known spots such as Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, Opera House, Sydney Fish Markets. Sydney is so beautiful that walking around it is always very interesting. The hotel was also very close to all the main streets of Sydney CBD. Catching a train to one of my favourite places Newtown was quick. Newtown is a lovely suburb with so many choices of places to eat and drink and watch the world go by. Any discussions I read about room sizes are a non-issue. The room was perfect for my needs. You really only use a hotel room to sleep, shower and get changed in. Nearly all of your awake time you're out anyway. My only complaint was the pillows, they were much too soft for me, and sometimes I didn't get the best sleep as a result. But that's an individual preference thing. In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel played a big part in that. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks.
