“2nd time around”

We stayed here two different nights. The first was in a cell. When we checked in the 2nd night we mentioned how disappointed we were with the first room. They upgraded us from a "motel" room to a "standard" . The standard room was wonderful compared to the first. It was everything you'd expect of a travelodge.

Area recommendations

We were able to walk to the main parts of town. There was a super market across the street.

“Good launching point for excursions”

Area recommendations

Many hotels in the downtown area (rebuilt following a devestating 1974 typhoon). Conveniently located to businesses, the Esplanade City Park, and ideal for tour company pickup. I had no need to rent a car, given the fact that I went into the bush with a planned tour.

When to go

The months of May through November are best, with heat down, but crowds are greater. I went in February, with GREAT heat and humidity, but crowds were way down.

“Good value”

The location of this hotel was perfect - it was only two blocks from the main street and three blocks fromt the Esplanade. The room was spacious and clean.
