“Crown Regency”
This is a very good value for a short stay. WiFi was free, and acceptable for emails, etc.. Rooms are spartan, my own room was definitely 1 star. However, I give credit to the staff, who made the stay more than enjoyable. I had no issues with hot water, but could have been the day/time. No frills, but ok overall. Be warned of the cash deposit required at check in, was 2k PHP in my case, but when I signed for it the sheet seemed to indicate all different deposit amounts up to 100 USD. The hotel also seems to be non smoking, and not advertised as such, but seemed that way to me
“Never again”
Very tired very noisy - at best a backpacker hotel
“Roughing it in Davao”
To be fair, the Crown Regency Davao certainly is striving to be a 2-3 star Western hotel...but so far it has missed the mark. The rooms are fairly large ... but you will look in vain for hot water for your shower. The rooms are tolerably clean but don't expect anything beyond the basics here.... a short step up from a camping experience. The pool is good for the kids and the restaurant was nice. The staff are very attentive...its just that building needs a major overhaul. At the other end of the hotel spectrum in Davao is the highly overated, service deprived Marco Polo hotel. So you can pay a small amount for basic accommodations at the Crown Regency or way too much for an average room at the Marco Polo. Your choice.
“Needs improvement”
My first stay in the hotel was in 2004 and it has a good quality at that time so I decided to go back after seven years. However, the problem with the shower/bathroom leakage was still there....was not even fixed! Bed sheets and towels are old. It got worsened actually It has a very low maintenance. What I am happy about are the positive attitude of the staff, especially the housekeeping team. They are polite and helpful.
“Never again”
The hotel was tired & old. Service was poor & no hot water in the room. Food was poor quality.
