I was concerned about making a decision to stay here based on negative reviews. All I can say, is haters will always hate.
We had an absolutely lovely experience from the moment we walked up to the hotel (door opened by staff and directed us where to check in). At the front desk, there was a staff of five people ready to assist us. The building is beautifully appointed (and signs DO direct you where to check in from the parking lot...I guess people just can't read and then want to complain).
There is an old-fashioned barber shop, a nook offering shoe-shining service, bowling, restaurant and oh, the quaint coffee shop that receives awful reviews... Our experience had two friendly employees in the shop that immediately made our order. And there was always someone at the front desk willing and able to assist (countering those that have complained of no staff present).
Everything was absolutely beautiful and charming; clean and extremely comfortable. We chose this hotel for a mini-get-away for Independence Day...its location to fireworks and its pet-friendly accommodations. We left as true fans ready to return to the opulence and the friendly staff. Anyone that doesn't fall in love with this place....in my eyes, will complain about heaven itself. The downtown area is quaint, clean and safe. While walking the canine around the block, every person I passed wished me a good morning!
Oh, they also offer full-time residency...I would move there in a hot minute!
