Excellent place to stay.

Pros: The beds were very comfortable and we were always promptly attended to even one time early hours of the morning.
Cons: The restaurant meals were a little pricey.
Location: The lagoon fish feeding and marine biologists on the island were more than happy to provide advice about the local area and provide food.
The room was very clean and hotel staff were always keen to help. The snorkelling around the island was fantastic when going at the right times about 1 hr before change of tide as it hardly requires any swimming as the current takes you and by the time you get to one end the tide changes you can drift back around the other side. I snorkelled the full circumference of the island with my 6 year old son and he had a really enjoyable experience. He stayed in the kids club for a couple of hours why my wife and I had massage and spa treatment which he really enjoyed also.

Beautiful location which was let down by owners

Posted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: The nature and overall layout.
Cons: The whole resort needs a major face lift , not structurally but visually paint décor etc. Also the buffet was substandard for the dinner service.
Location: beaches and pools were in good condition and we liked the hammock's scattered throughout the island.
Day dream island is in a beautiful location with breathtaking nature and scenery. This was unfortunately let down by the food and Beverage side of things with exemption to the Mermaids restaurant which was what you would expect from a 4/5 star resort. Also some staff were not as happy and upbeat as they should have been. The resort itself is looking dated and in need of a major face lift. Also there were parts of the island that were not even open which was disappointing. The Island itself is spectacular and the layout is good but the condition isn't what you would expect from a 4 star resort. Breakfast was ok but the Buffet dinner was terrible the fish was dry as was the chicken. Just a note I work in the hospitality industry for a large club in Sydney we pride ourselves on our food and beverage maybe with the buffet offer you have the meat grilled to order and have the sides in a buffet .....just a thought.

Daydream Island - A great family resort.

Posted Jan 15, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff Pools Living Reef Plenty of space in the rooms
Cons: The Fish Bowl bistro had terrible food. It also needs a pasta option for the kids.
Location: The resort is on the door step to The Great Barrier Reef.
We stayed four nights at the resort with our two toddlers. The staff were always friendly and eager to help out. The resort facilities are great for families. The pools are amazing, there is a massive playground and the living reef guided tour was a great highlight for our daughter. The rooms were clean and well serviced during our stay. Our kids attended and enjoyed the kids club. We found that the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about children. The breakfast buffet is amazing and the bakery or the pool side BBQ is a great lunch option. We only had troubles with dinner with a kids meal not being served at the restaurant and the food at the bistro (The Fish Bowl) is not great. The buffet dinner was great though. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend the resort to families or groups of people traveling together. I can't wait to return.

They Have one hand in your wallet the whole time

Pros: great location, comfortable room
Cons: Make it more of an all inclusive type place where you dont have to pay $5 every time you take a step
Location: great activities, you dont have to leave the island and they have plenty of things to do, obviously the premium trips will cost you money but worth it
This place is beautiful, there are wild wallabies, an awesome aquarium, beautiful views and the room was cozy and the food at mermaids and the fish bowl was awesome however the food at the buffet for lunch and dinner was on the verge of terrible and way overpriced. The breakfast was good and free which was even better.......Here are the negatives and trust me we knew it was going to be expensive but no one could have prepared us for this......In the buffet area there is a coca cola machine and they don't even open it for breakfast because this place is so cheap that they don't even want to give kids soda during their free buffet. They charge $4 for a can of coke, and $15 to $20 for any watered down drink...i$25 to use the internet in the room unless you want to sit in the lobby and use the free internet while it is super hot and uncomfortable. The cheapest way to drink on the island is to buy a $28 dollar bottle of wine and baby it the whole way. They charge a very high surcharge for any credit card used so bring cash if you can, oh and they also charge a service fee for charging things to your room so again use cash.......I cant believe they don't have a place for you to pay to use the toilet in your room, shoot I think I just gave them another idea on how to make money.... The entire staff is terrible and rude short of John at Activities....Esikiel in Mermaids could be the worst waiter ever, if he gave half a crap it would have been okay, he did not care at all.........
