Almost Exactly What We Expected

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: 1) Breakfast 2) Price 3) Location 4) Comfort
Cons: Segregate smoking and non-smoking rooms, so everyone is happy.
We stayed at this hotel because of it's price, Amenities offered, and distance to Kings Island by back roads. It is a nice place, with a decent hot breakfast that saved us easily $30 to $35 a day (2 adults and 3 kids). They offer free wifi, and it is a decent wifi. On the day we were leaving, it appeared, that all of the mattresses were being removed and replaced with new. We do agree with many of the reviews, that say this hotel has an overlap of smoking and non-smoking rooms, that was the only turnoff for the whole experience. It was very apparent in the hallway in front of our room. I am not trying to be a prude, just a COPD patient trying to be careful. It seems by the hotel design, that it would be possible to segregate the smoking and non-smoking rooms with equal amounts on 1st and 2nd floors. This is a nice place for the money though, and deserves the 4 rating in our opinion.

Awful CFL lighting, no thank you at check out

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: Comfortable bed and bedding. Convenient room set-up (e.g. vanity area and bathroom separated from each other), great access to the highway, yet quiet.
Cons: Put more appealing, warm, soft lighting in the rooms. Get rid of the CFL bulbs.
Location: Easy access to highway. Didn't tour the area so don't have any suggestions on what to do nearby.
In all honesty, the room itself was very clean, conveniently arranged, quiet, and comfortable (bed-wise). However, it was almost unbearable to be in the room because all the lamps/light fixtures used the curly-Q CFL light bulbs, which, not only are poisonous if they break, but they cast the most awful, bluish-silver, eery, creepy, cold light. It was absolutely UGLY and intolerable. I usually need to read at night in order to fall asleep, but could not bear the hideous lighting. Truly awful. Next time I will be sure to make sure a hotel does not have these horrible CFL bulbs in the rooms before I make a reservation. Also, when I was checking out, the attendant didn't thank me for staying there or make any kind of comment or acknowledgment. Very cold feeling. But maybe she was just having a bad day, so that's fine. Overall, Comfort Inn, please find an alternative to the CFL bulb for the sake of your guests' comfort and safety. Wouldn't stay there again for that reason, unfortunately.

Was very disappointed with the indoor pool. It seemed that it had way too much chlorine in it and just the room burned your eyes. Too bad I would not take a chance of swimming in it and I needed to because of my chronic back pain.

Filthy Place

Posted Jun 30, 2011
This hotel was filthy. It smelled of must and mildew, the room was covered in dust and I was affraid to use the beds. The "hot" breakfast consited of saussages only, everything else was cold. I would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone else.

Disappointed

Posted Apr 29, 2011
We stayed at this hotel a year ago and was pleased with it then. However, this visit was different. The hotel does not seem to have been maintained very well. Breakfast was slim. Pool was filthy. Looked as though it was full of dog hair. We were there for 2 nights and could not even use the pool. The worst part was that we requested non smoking, which we got. However, the room across the hall was a smoking room. Defeated the purpose. Every time we opened our room door, the smell of stale smoke filled our room. We will definitely look for a different place to stay next time we are in this area.
