Easy check in. Staff very friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately, booking site information is not up to date, as I specifically booked based on bar, and restaurant as I drove in 12 hours. Both closed, told by staff because it was Sunday. Not enough business to warrant. If I would have known ahead of time I would have booked in Urbana , which would have been more convenient to my visit.

My family and I booked adjoining rooms months in advance. When my son and his wife arrived, they were told the room was not ready yet since it was an adjoining room (it was about an hour before check in time). We then left to get lunch and came back to check in. At that point we were told there were no adjoining rooms available. When the two of us made a surprised look on our faces, the clerk, Judy Snell, looked at us and said “I don’t know what you want me to do, someone needed the room last night, and so we gave it to them!” Even though just an hour earlier she stated that the room was being cleaned. She then proceeded with maybe you should have booked the room for two nights if you wanted adjoining rooms! Not once did she apologize to us. She was rude and very unprofessional. We had booked the adjoining rooms because my husband and I were going to be babysitting the two small children while they were at a wedding. My daughter in law even called the hotel over a month ago to make sure that our reservation with the two adjoining rooms was confirmed! At that time she was told everything was good. It was bad enough that the reservation was not right, but when Judy started with her rude attitude and comments that really did it for me. I have never experienced a situation like this before. The hotel was very clean, and comfortablle. The cleaning staff were very friendly! But that first impression at the front desk really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Donna,I am very sorry for the experience that you had with us. Judy and I have spoken about this, as well as our Executive Housekeeper who was present in the back office during your check-in. We do our very best to get our guests all of their requests, but adjoining rooms is something that we are unable to guarantee. There are a number of things that can come into play when it comes to this: a maintenance issue causes the room to be put out of service, a guest decides to stay over, and - as in this case - we were completely sold out the prior evening and the guest needing the room had a reservation for more than one night which then required us to unblock it. It makes it difficult as well, as you requested a king adjoining to a double/double and we only have 5 of those adjoining types. According to Judy she offered to move you to 2 rooms with doubles, which would have greatly increased the options. While I know that you feel Judy was rude and unapologetic, I don't believe that it was intentional. We have spoken about it and I don't think Judy realized that the adjoining room had been given to someone else when you initially came in which is why you weren't told about it at that point. The restaurant staff was very friendly and I had an overall good experience. Had to order food delivery on a Sunday evening, though. Nothing other than a coffee shop downtown was open within walking distance. The girls in the coffee shop were pleasant too.

Sunday evenings in downtown Springfield can be difficult to find walkable food options as most are small businesses and close on Sunday to be able to optimize the higher occupancy days with staffing. We are working to get to the point where we open and offer our lounge menu on Sunday evenings, unfortunately we're not yet at that point. Not very friendly staff. Manager was to busy with her own event that she held there for her daughters graduation. Lots of distraction .... then we were charged fees that we were not aware of like a conference fee. We never even walked through the conference because the manager was having her own event. We will never go there again and it tarnished our visits to future Marriott.

Miriam,Thank you for your comments, but we are very confused. We have not yet hosted any graduation parties this year for anyone, let alone a team member. We have not had any team members hold events in the past few months, nor would not have allowed anyone to work while having their own event here at the same time - that would take away focus from our guests. It was a wonderful stay, and the neighborhood around offered great cappuccinos wish there were assigned parking for guests, as it was hard to park with meetings going on, but otherwise thumbs up all the way
