Hotel near hospital

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Rooms were nice. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: Management staff needs to have advanced customer service training.
The lady who said she was the Manager on Duty, "Pebbles", was very rude and unprofessional. She had problems finding my reservation. When the reservation was made, it had the suffix "II" added after my last name. She kept trying to tell me I didn't have a reservation. She had a "smart" attitude and wasn't being helpful at all. When I called my wife for the confirmation number and "Pebbles" found it that way, she never apologized. She simply made a comment that I had a cheap room because I had reserved it though Expedia. I'm sure this was not her real name but she wouldn't tell me what it was. All the staff had name badges with strange names. The other hotel staff I dealt with were nice and helpful.

Nice hotel - terrible front desk service

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: The bed was awesome, the room was clean and the breakfast that was purchased with the room was very good.
Cons: Hotel staff should be polite and helpful. They should also give their real names.
"Pebbles" was extremely rude. My sister-in-law, Suellen Rains, made my reservation as I had left home hurriedly when my mother was transported to Miami Valley hospital to be put in ICU for heart failure. In my rush to leave, I did not have a credit card on me. After reserving the room on Expedia, she called the hotel to let them know the situation and was told everything was ready and I just needed to check in. However, when I got there at 12:30 AM, they would not let me check in as I did not have a credit card for "incidentals". The lady who identified herself as the Manager on Duty, calling herself "Pebbles", was very rude to me and my 14 year old son. It took several calls to my sister-in-law and an hour & a half to finally get into my room. She said it was Expedia's fault for not mentioning the credit card needed for incidentals.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and experience at the Dayton Marriott. I’m very sorry that you had a negative experience at check-in. Typically we do require a method of payment to cover incidentals if the room and tax is paid for by a third party. However, we certainly could have handled this situation better considering the special circumstances. We will use this example to retrain and educate our Front Desk hosts. You’re a valued customer; everything we do is aimed at providing you with an excellent hotel experience. We would like to regain your trust and hope to serve you again in the near future.

move in weekend for our child at University of Day

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Location to the campus shuttle to campus and to local restaurant
Cons: it needs to be disclosed if there will be loud music playing until 11 pm! dust rooms! Smell pillowcases before left on bed Always am coffee free!
Location: uni of dayton good restaurants
Supposed to get room with 2 queen beds, instead only option was a King. At check-in, we were told there would be a concert the two nights we were there The music was so loud and disturbing that on the second night I had to request a room away from the music. Room was very dusty, pillows had a smell like dirty diapers Free am coffee always ran out and then you were sent to the restaurant to "purchase" a cup.

Paper thin walls.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Very, very noisy hotel. Had to call security 2:00am, after somebody else had called them earlier. I know hotels can't help what their clientele do, but it was ridiculous. I seriously thought a woman was being beaten to death. That coupled with every toilet flushing, cough, shower running and laugh sounding like it was right in my room was not conducive to rest. We did get a free breakfast for 1 as recompense. Very friendly front desk manager. I won't go back though b/c of paper thin walls.

Nice hotel in good location

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: I liked the staff and the location and the cleanliness of hotel.
Cons: The restaurant needs to hire more staff and the elevators seemed to always have the heat cranked up.
Location: The University of Dayton is across the street and there are several restaurants within a 20 minute walk.
We were in town for a funeral and had to book this hotel at last minute. The hotel was in a good location, but room was small and no rollaway bed was available. The double beds were small and no queen size beds available. The breakfast was good but service was very slow. The pool was nice.

Convenient and Comfortable

Posted Apr 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
This is a nice hotel. It is centrally located and very close to University of Dayton. The room was very clean and comfortable. However, when I checked in, it seems that the hotel was basically empty (stayed in April of 2014) but the front desk put me on the 2nd floor, and they were re-finishing the parking lot. I suppose I wish that I had been put on a higher floor or on the back of the hotel to avoid some of the noise, but at the same time I did not ask to be moved.
