Keep Looking!

Posted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
I have stayed a many Days Inn's and this by far was the worst of them all. Our receptionist was smoking when we arrived. The Lobby was not air conditioned it was about 87 inside the building. When entering the room it looked rather old, and the curtains were ripped, but the beds looked newer. When pulling the sheets back prior to bed, we found black hairs in the bed. They stated they had a breakfast but by the time my family and I got down to the lobby all they had left were 2 doughnut holes, bread butts, and juice. When asked, if there was more, I was told that was all there was. Again, by far the worst Days in I have stayed at. For the money you will pay for this place keep looking, there has to be a better place.

You get what you pay for

We recently visited the area for my father's funeral and stayed 3 nights. We had difficulty opening up our room door every time we left the room and the front desk clerk knew there was problems with the door but did not reassign our room even though they were not full. The room needed a vacuum as there were fuzzy's all over the room from the blankets. The continental breakfast served mornings from 6-9am, was a joke. a couple of miniature donuts, day old bread and a cereal machine that I guess the cereal was pretty old. Seeing that it is in Sturgis the location is convenient and is close to the freeway. Our window overlooked the parking lot, the other side of the hotel overlooks the freeway. It was quiet.

Not too bad!

The hotel was ok but the staff was very skimpy with the breakfast. There were never more than a couple of doughnuts or pieces of fruit available at one time. It gave the impression that they were trying to make the guests eat less.

A discount hotel: you get what you pay for.

Pros: Not much.
Cons: Breakfast advertised is just junk, not even what is generally considered "continental" let alone breakfast.
Location: At the entrance to Boulder Canyon which is handy.
Spend the extra bucks and stay at the Holiday Inn Express across the street. We ended up eating breakfast out even though it was advertised as part of the services at the Days Inn. All in all, it would have been cheaper to pay the extra and go across the street. They did have wifi.

Slim continental breakfast--could have used more variety than oranges and red delicious apples for fruit on my four-night stay; bagels and cream cheese would have been appreciated, although peanut butter on toasted English muffin was quite tastey. Several window screens were torn, forcing patrons to choose between fresh night air vs flying insects invading. Otherwise a pleasant stay. Staff was helpful and accommodating.

Hotel employee at front desk was very helpful and kind. The housekeeping straightened bed and bathroom on Sat afternoon while we were gone. That was done nicely.Carpeting through out hotel, especially hallway, was very dirty. Counter of sink in our room was dirty.
