Staff was great , rest was awful

Posted Sep 28, 2014
1- smell of hotel when walked in was bad , smell of room was worse, bought candle and plug in for wall, still smelled so bad sleeping was tough. 2- had to drive across street to get dog to go potty because no grass for them to go 3- washes everything when returned home so we didn't have to smell that smell anymore. 4- absolutely would never stay or recommend again 5- all can say is staff is super nice

Nice place to stay

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Clean and quiet.
Cons: More 21 tables especially at a $2 minimum.
Location: We discovered the Lodge and spent most of our time gambling there because of the live poker and tournaments. More of a casino atmosphere that we like
First hotel as you enter historic Deadwood. Walking distance to casino and Cadilac Jacks. The king bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. The casino was a bit crowded, especially on Saturday night, but the slots seemed quite loose which made up for it. No live poker on sight. Only one or two 21 tables which were hard to get seated because it was only a $2 minimum bet. The prime rib at the dinner buffet was very tender. However, not a lot of variety for a buffet, but then again, this is on a small scale and acceptable. The best aspect of Deadwood was the NO SMOKING in all the buildings. What a relief. Great anniversary get away. I was named after Wild Bill Hickok so the purpose of going to Deadwood was to see where he lived and died. Now you can truthfully state that James B. Hickok stayed at First Gold.

Levels for hotel and parking we're confusing. When checking out we had to go to another building nearby.

My stay at First Gold Hotel & Gaming

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: The hotel was very easy to locate, and the room was fairly close to where we parked our car. Everything about the room and the shuttle.
We were very pleased to arrange our stay in Deadwood through Expedia. The rate was very reasonable and we definitely enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable, and the amenities were nice to have. The shuttle to the main building where the restaurant and gambling was an added bonus. I am disabled and do not get around very easily, so it was definitely nice not to have to walk all that distance. We just wanted to have a good nights rest and do a little bit of gambling before we headed home, so we didn't do anything outside the First Gold. I would happily recommend the First Gold Hotel to my friends if they are planning to spend a few nights.

What a town!

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Room and area
Cons: Fun hotel
Location: Deadwood is great with a super downtown.
Even though the hotel has 3 separate buildings, it was not that hard to get around and the room was excellent.

Road trip, one night only

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: The hotel was just outside of town so it was easy to get into town.
Cons: For the number of people at the hotel, it could use another restaurant,
Location: The location was good for access to town and sights.
The room was clean and quite comfortable. The parking was tight. The hotel needs another restaurant or coffee shop. The hotel is in a good location.

Last minute booking

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Booked this hotel in a very last minute situation everything was great expect for the front desk lady. She was very rude, had no patients and my fiance and I had to wait for her to find something in her purse before she even attempted to help us. We had our dog with us and it was great for him too, with the room and pet exercise area that they have.
