Comfy beds

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean with nice soft, comfy beds. We had a birthday party and we had to "rent" tables at $10 each. I thought that was ridiculous, since we paid for 3 rooms for 2 nights!! The hotel was very clean and the restaurant Lucky 13's has wonderful food! Overall, I would recommend.

Nice Hotel- Terrible food and service

Love this hotel. Used to love the restaurant. Will never eat there again. Service is awful.Food is not good.Waited approximately 45 minutes for appetizers that were sent back because they were cold.

I had pre-paid for a suite 8 months in advance. When we got to the hotel we were told we couldn't have a suite and they offered two adjoining rooms. I didn't want two rooms or I would have booked it originally. The hotel offered us no apologies or even a drink in the bar. When I declined the second room, they rented it immediately as the occupants were noisy and kept us up. The manager said she would "adjust" the amount paid but never did. Finally, when I told Hotels.com about it, they offered me some relief on the price I paid. This hotel didn't care that I had given them money for 8 months and they failed to deliver what I bought. The folks at Hotels.com really rock! Thanks to them I at least recovered some expense, but still never got an apology from Holiday Inn Spearfish.

This hotel is in an easy-to-access location, near shopping and dining. It also has a pub on the premises which serves good food and provides free entertainment. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. The pillows there are very "poofy," so if you normally require a flat pillow, bring yours from home.

It's a dated convention-based hotel.

Pros: Location / room size
Cons: A front desk staff that's past puberty...they seemed to be on their smartphone more than the job. A security re-vamp.
Location: Near Sturgis / Spearfish / Deadwood, all tourist sites.
Okay, I have stayed in MANY a hotel, but none have had so confusing a layout as this one. It's seems to have been added to in stages, with little planning. It's a maze, to find your way from back to front - bring a sandwich. The provided room WAS nice, clean. It does have a pool / jacuzzi's - to which a good portion of the rooms are centered around - so expect kids and associated ruckus till the pool closing. No complimentary coffee in the lobby, however a restaurant/bar is attached to the lobby, so feel free to indulge there. Security is all but absent - no cameras noted, and on backside, there are two entrances, literally next to each other. One requires your key for entry, the other, not. They both give the same access, so really, what's the point?

Excellent hotel

We ended up spending a couple of extra days at this hotel and really enjoyed every minute. The staff was great, especially Victor. The hotel is roomy and has everything you could want. Even the restaurant was very good, considered by locals to be one of the best in town.

Holiday Inn and Suites, Spearfish, SD

Pros: The young lady that checked me in, the restaurant and the ease of parking.
Cons: Considering the age of the facility I don't think much more can be done to improve it.
Location: Spearfish is a nice small town located on I-90. Black Hills State University is there. Easy access to Nat'l Forest and gambling in Deadwood, SD.
I only stayed for two nights and the accommodations were adequate. The young lady that checked me in was very accommodating. I wasn't ready for room service when they came very early the next morning so I didn't get my bed made and I had to call twice to get fresh towels and the trash picked up. Breakfast at the attached restaurant was good and the was service excellent. It is an old facility and the elevator is not conveniently located.

Great facility, great staff.

We love this hotel. We have stayed here before and they are great. We had a bit of car trouble and had to stay a few more days but the staff was great. Especially Victor at the front desk. He worked with us on keeping the same room when we kept adding days onto our stay. As far as I'm concerned they are a five star hotel.

In need of repair and updating.

Staff was helpful and courtesy. The condition of the facility was less than acceptable: outdated carpet that was taped at the seams, throughout. It was not worth the $140/per night price tag. We will not being staying again.
