“Central location for New Delhi”
Everything was excellent!
“Outstanding Performance”
I had a great week stay at The Corus (Oct 22 to Oct 28). Everything was just perfect. I felt safe at all times. The service was excellent and the hosts were all friendly. They were willing to help me navigate the complexities of New Delhi. The design is Japanese-based with black and white colors. Very zen. However, The Bonzai restaurant downstairs is pricier than normal. A little walk to the "Zen" restaurant down the street saved me quite a bit of money. I was disappointed that some reviews, that I read before my travel, were negative towards the hotel, safety and quality of service. I did not experience any of that. People with negative reviews might have just been culture-shocked; nothing to do with the hotel.
“Good first entrance into Delhi”
The place was clean; the management friendly, the food was really good. The management worked hard to talk us into taking a tour with them and after venturing out on our own we did. They drop you off at various commercial places to entice you to shop.think they get a commission. Connaught Place is rather threatening if you have never been in india.
“Noise”
A little bit noisy by nights but the issue it is that the noise came from the hotel associates that runs trough the halls, talk loud etc.
“Friendly, comfortable, clean hotel in central location.”
We were happy with the hotel. You do have to wait about 5 minutes for the hot water to arrive, as the sign above the basin says. The housekeeping staff were very pleasant but a bit overattentive, bringing something extra to the room in stages. I would prefer to have everything already in the room, the toilet paper, soap, bottled water. I think it had to do with my not having any money to tip them with initially.
“Good location, solid 3 star hotel”
The Corus Hotel is a good choice if you want to stay in one of the main shopping areas of Delhi. The hotel provides comfortable basic rooms. The room is slightly on the small side (and the bathroom is tight) but its' a good budget choice if you're staying 1-2 days in Delhi and want to see or stay by Connaught Place. The bathroom offers modern fixtures (toilet, shower, sink) were all in good condition and mostly importantly, clean. You cannot fault the location, you are just steps from lots of shops, both traditional Indian stores and newer Western brand names. There are also a good mix of restaurants and fast food places (McDonald's and KFC) in Connaught Place's inner circle. The hotel has a restaurant as well which we tried and found to be good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is such that it seems local young people like to hand out there in the evening. However, our room was quiet and I had no trouble sleeping. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in India which did not meet their 3 star or even 4 star rating. The Corus is a sold 3 star, noting exceptional but meets all your basic needs of clean room and a good night's sleep. I would stay at The Corus again if in Delhi.
“Location”
Great location
“Eh”
You pay quite a premium to stay in Cannaught Place in Delhi, so if this is definitely where you want to stay, the place is acceptable. There are definitely better values out there, though. I did use the travel agency recommended by the hotel and did have a positive experience. Beware, however, that they are not a "branch" of the official tourism office as they claim. Nevertheless, they offer good values and service and can help you get to your next destination.
“ABSOLUTELY HORRID”
The rooms have no windows, the entire bathroom floods after a shower and has no window so the entire room smells damp the whole time. The floors aren't cleaned properly, the bottom of our socks were black, can't believe it's rated a 3 start. If your're reading this review please please take it seriously, especially if you have children. It should be worth half of what we paid, we ran away after two nights (originally booked 4 nights). I have no words for how much we hated it.
