“Excellent place to stay in Denali National Park”
It is an ideal place to stay if you are visiting Denali National Park. The location is very good, on the bank of a river. It has a very good restaurant with friendly staff. It feels like comfort in the midst of wilderness.
“Great way to stay in Denali”
Excellent cabin, friendly staff, close to Denali NP. I sincerely recommend it !!!
“Nice hotel very close to Denali NP”
i had a really nice and spaceous cabin, very quiet during the night although very close to the main road between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Buses to Denali NP start right at the hotel, you can book a trip from there. The restaurant is also nice, staff was very friendly. Breakfast was included and was really fresh and delicious. I would always go there again...
“Good cabin”
Their cabins are all clean and confortable very much. Though their restaurant is cheap and not good, if you use neighbor's one, McKinley Village Lodge's*, there is no problem. *Actually McKinley Village Lodge's restaurant was really good.
“Great place to stay with earplugs”
The Hotel staff was really nice and helpful. They provided us with extra blankets to cover the windows with when we asked. The breakfast crew were really nice and helpful. They cleaned tables right away and the continental breakfast was always stocked, really nice to see a nice selection of fruits. The cabins themselves were very cute and our teenage boys thought they were cool to stay in. The only problem is that the cabins have zero insulation for noise, you can hear EVERYTHING outside the cabin and vice versa. Our first night there we were woken to, "OH MY GOD IT IS ONE IN THE MORNING AND IT SO BRIGHT OUT HERE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT" Any conversation taking place outside can be heard inside with clarity. It was like that for the rest of the night as new travelers would arrive in shock (we had been in Alaska for about 2 weeks so the shock of night time sun had passed us already). The problem was resolved when we went to the shopping area outside of Denali and purchased ear plugs. We slept soundly for the next two nights.
“Rustic, Friendly, Denali Frustration”
Everyone was very nice. Staff was helpful if asked the right questions. Located six miles from Denali Park so you are dependent on and limited by the shuttle bus schedule. Better if you have a car. To meet a particular planned trip at the park the staff went out of their way to take us in a van, but it's better to have your own transportation. Nice breakfasts included. Cabins are rustic, beds not very comfortable, but very clean.
“Not worth the price”
Before I begin, I must offer this: The desk staff was very professional in every way. No complaints there. Also, our room was clean. Here are the negatives, which you might overlook if you hadn't paid such a HIGH price: 1) Room was extremely small. Sliding bathroom door located right next to the bed. Really? Why have a door at all? Sink in living area, away from bathroom. 2) Noisy, Noisy, Noisy. We were in the individual cabins, but even with the windows closed, you hear every guest who walks past. LOUDLY. 3) We paid resort hotel lodging rates for a step just above tent camping. Examples: Cheap folding chairs covered with industrial nylon slipcovers. Really? Shower curtain didn't reach bottom of plastic shower?? In short, this was no bigger nor better than a large tent! 4) Door wouldn't shut tightly. 5) Continental breakfast. Just skip it. Hard boiled eggs are no problem if you've paid for super discount lodging - which this is not. Skipped 2nd day and went to Princess Lodge for WONDERFUL breakfast, pleasant service in gorgeous surroundings. 6) Restaurant (Roadhouse). Yuck. Ordered the Cuban Pork Sandwich. Bland and COLD!!! Caesar Salad had so much parmisian we couldn't even eat it. Expensive and horrible. Ate at Prospector Pizza next night. FANTASTIC! Don't waste your money or time here. 7) WARNING: Gas heater has an open flame. Don't bring kids. In all, this was the worst lodging experience of our two weeks in Alaska.
“1 star accommodation at a 4 star rate. Book most any other hotel in Denali”
2 and half stars should be reduced to one. WiFi does not work well. Furniture makes anything else look elegant. Example folding chairs covered in oil cloth. Particle wobbly table. Toilet broken. Breakfast is OK. Shuttle does not keep to posted schedule. Front office staff mostly unfriendly with some exceptions. Disappointed even though fore warned by previous reviews on Expedia. Priced at way too high rate for dingy cabin with furniture that would make anything else look luxurious. Examples folding chairs covered in oil cloth and wobbly table of particle board. TV does not receive network channels and is limited to just four cable channels. WiFi does not work. Shuttle bus does not run on schedule. No hair dryer. Shower cramped. Noisy environment during sleeping hours. Staff generally unfriendly with some exceptions. Good breakfast but not spectacular. Better option should be sought elsewhere in Denali at such high rates.
