Room with a view!

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: View, view, view! Mountains, a river, and sunsets!
Cons: I've never been a big fan of add-ons at a hotel. Include breakfast in the price of the room!! The price was high, although reasonable for the area.
Location: There is a shuttle that runs down the hill and into the "downtown" area. This is a one-street town with few, although good, bars and restaurants.
Stay at the Grande Denali Lodge for the view. From what I saw of the area, there is no better view than what rooms on this property enjoy. High up on a hill overlooking the river and into Denali National Park - fantastic. The hotel itself is fine, nothing special really, but comfortable and clean. Hotels in Alaska are expensive, so expect to pay higher prices for anything nice. I was happy to pay the price (a little over $200) for the view.

too expensive for what you get

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: beautiful view and cool location, cool signs coming up road, able to get a crib in the room
Cons: fridge and microwave in room
Location: Denali park, lots of stuff to do
staff are fine, clean room, just a basic hotel room, no fridge or microwave, nothing to justify the high price per night, no view from the room we had, awesome view from lodge building

On the edge...

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Lodge nearest the Denali National Park entrance, scenically perched on the edge of a hill overlooking the valley. Friendly helpful staff from front desk to bartender and everyone in between. Nice rooms. Excellent location, good base for daytrips into Denali, not much on site. No pool/exercise facilities. Denali gift shops and restaurants in walking distance, though good restaurant/bar at the lodge with excellent views. Apparently a couple of nice but strenuous hikes from the lodge up the mountain, but we did not get a chance to try these. Tour buses stay here. Ask for a view room, otherwise you may be looking over the parking lot. Rate lower than expected. We were very happy with our stay.

Gorgeous view from Grand Denali Lodge

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: The view is spectacular! The staff is very helpful and courteous.
Cons: The check out time is too early. Additional parking would be helpful.
Location: The Lodge is very close to the small town for shopping and restaurants. Great location for many excursions offered in Denali Park.
The staff at this hotel were very helpful and assisted us with all of our requests. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the restaurant in the hotel. The only suggestion I would make is to change the check-out time to 11:00 or noon would be better.

Nice views and funny signs

Posted Jul 11, 2014
We arrived at the hotel late in the evening and an employee drove up to us and offered to help with our bags. We were immediately impressed. Check in was easy and the front desk was helpful. The outside seating at the restaurant had outstanding views. The room was ok. We were surprised there was no fridge in the room, especially for that price. The shuttle service was convenient and the staff was very pleasant.

No Compassion

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: More compassion, and offer to refund a part of pre-paid purchase cost.
We had a medical emergency and had to return home to treat this problem. We called the hotel staff to tell them we could not keep our stay as planned. The staff lack any concern and had no compassion.

Parking lot view

Posted Jul 5, 2014
I looked at the photo and thought the scenic vista would be beautiful. It is but unfortunately half the rooms face a parking lot without a view. Guess which one I got?

Way too expensive for what you get.

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Very plain room and facilities. The shuttle service seems to be the main amenity, otherwise it's pretty bare-bones offerings. Scratchy towels; you have to request a non-slip bath mat, etc.
