La Quinta failed -- twice.

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Cons: Customer service. This was a bad experience in several ways.
I set up a GUARANTEED arrival near a hospital for the night before my wife's 6:30am surgery. When we arrived at 11:30pm (after flying in), the desk clerk informed us that there were no more rooms. He arranged for another room at a La Quinta a few miles away, we went there and received a room key. We found one of the worst rooms either of us had ever stayed in (including those in several 3rd world countries). It smelled of animal urine, half the carpet was wet (not just damp), the air temperature was difficult to control, several amenities were missing, the bed was uncomfortable and not the size we asked for. The whole experience (both hotels) suggested systemic problems. We won't use La Quinta again.

Stains and Dings and a freezing pool, Oh my!!

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Big room
Cons: Stains on carpet, dings in walls, hairs on bathtub, smell, pool needs to be cleaned and in working order
When we checked in we got two keys, gathered our stuff and went to the room. The keys didn't work, so I ran up to the front desk, got 2 more keys. We opened the door to a blast of cigarette smoke and perfume. We went back to the front desk, asked for a new room. They gave us a different room 2 floors up. The elevator was scary and noisy and gross. We lugged all our stuff to the new room... but the keys did not work. I called the front desk to let them know the keys weren't working. The front desk person said she would be up in a few minutes. After about 20 minutes, a maid let us in to our room. Then we went down to the front desk to retrieve the keys. Someone accompanied us up to make sure the keys worked. The room had visible stains on the carpet, and dings in the walls, stains on the ceiling, etc. We went to dinner first, since check-in took so long. When we got back, we got our swimming suits on, and went down to the pool. The pool was ice cold. I wanted to call up to the front desk, but they had removed all the house phones from the swim area. After about 10 minutes of trying to adjust to the cold, I took my shivering kids up with me to the front desk to ask about it. The front desk person said she didn't know the pool was cold, no one else was there until tomorrow morning. After I told her I would not have booked a hotel that didn't have a pool, she told me I was welcome to leave. We met a couple who complained about the pool that morning. We left to another hotel!

Place needs a remodel.

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: size of suite
Cons: needs remodel badly
Needs a remodel but was surprised by the size of the suite. Good for a short stay with a family. Complimentary breakfast was not adequately managed. Had to keep seeking staff to resupply things.

I was leery at first, because the hotel had a dingy smell and look, but the room was spacious and clean and had all the amenities, and they let pets stay at no charge. If you're looking for ambiance and frou frou, this isn't the place for you, but if you need a decent, clean, inexpensive place in a good location, it's fine.

Pros: The room lay out, size and cleanliness were all excellent.
Cons: the smell of the corridors. quicker cleaning of the ash trays.
Location: Lots of places to eat, shop and walk.
I stayed two nights. The room was excellent. The hallways smelled stale. There were piles of cigarette butts at the exit. The breakfast was all carbs. very little protein or fruits.

Mediocre hotel close to Denver Tech Center

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Pool area, exercise and activity room (pool tables, video games, air hockey) was nice.
Cons: Basic routine maintenance of the building for mechanical issues, vacuuming along the walls periodically (lots of dust), etc.
Location: Denver Tech Center and Park Meadow's Mall area. 15 minutes from Downtown Denver.
Travelled to Denver to a team sporting event and several team members staying at this hotel. Would not chose this hotel in the future. Older building that was relatively clean but no attention to detail. One exterior entrance was unusable to enter the building, stairwell door handle broke, elevator panel on wall off to be worked on (?) but no sign indicating out of order and panel on floor and wires everywhere. While the air conditioning in the rooms worked well, there was no airconditioning in the elevators or halls and temperatute in these areas was very uncomfortable. Housekeeping lacking. Towels were picked up (even though they were hung up to reuse) but no replacements left 2 of the 5 nights staying. No extra pillows available.
