There was no wifi service on the four days that I stayed, and I had to go to a coffee shop to send urgent messages. The room was good, but the shower was unsatisfactory. Tv reception was unwatchable.

This hotel was very clean and the bed was super comfortable! I had a really refreshing nights sleep. The breakfast was a highlight: fresh fruit prepared ready, soya milk and various yogurts, and well-cooked eggs etc. I would def return.

We liked communal area. Very elegantly decorated and nice to meet friend there. Very good breakfast. Our room had step from the hall to the room which could be a bit dangerous during the night if one needs facilities. May be some dim lights will be useful in the base of the step.

Good place in the city
Lovely hotel and lovely couple running it. The decor is good and shared spaces excellent, but we were really disappointed that there was no evening meal option as my mother was not able to walk to the local restaurants. I felt it was more like a B&B as no staff around during the day either. If you are more mobile then it is a perfect place to stay and explore the wonderful city of Chesterfield.

Check in was friendly and quick. The room was beautifully clean and well presented. We didn't order breakfast so cannot comment on that. Ideally positioned for an easy walk into Chesterfireld, although I was disappointed by the shopping opportunities.

The owners-hosts were kindly and welcoming, and generous with coffee, tea and nibbles in the room(s). Meals looked good although I ate lighter than I'd been doing earlier in this trip. The one thing I found off-putting was a ban on eating in one's bedroom with a stern warning that takeaway meal packaging found in bedrooms would bring an enforced £35 extra charge on the bill! All guests were required to eat any meal brought in in their dining room. That just seemed too harsh. I only learnt this after bringing a late evening Thai meal up to my room, but made sure to thoroughly clean up and pack out my minimal litter, thereby dodging the onerous fee.

Lovely boutique hotel in Chesterfield
The room was small but comfortable--especially the bed. In-room amenities were a nice touch. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We did not take the optional breakfast but it was well-priced. The hotel is located in a pleasant neighbourhood within an easy walk to the city centre, including the coach station and a couple of restaurants that we frequented during our stay. Within a 15-minute walk from the train station (but mostly uphill!). One thing to consider is the room freshener in the lounge area--for anybody with sensitivities to chemicals or scents, it makes sitting in that room difficult.

Lovely comfortable homely place to stay.
Very clean and tidy place. Nice bedrooms, mostly fitted with en-suite showers, although some are quite small. It's an old building so the floorboards creak, which can disturb you if you are a light sleeper. Fantastic breakfast. Helpful, friendly owners. Great location for Chesterfield City centre.

Great for solo travellers
Excellent location for walking into Chesterfield town centre with good, spacious car park. Greeted on arrival by the owners who were very welcoming. My room was excellent, with a comfy bed, T.V, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The shower room was spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. Lovely little touch of having a make-up remover wipe placed amongst the toiletries. Breakfast was plentiful and great value. Service was amazing and I didn't feel rushed. Overall, a superb hotel in a great location, with the friendliest of staff. I will definitely stay again.

Nice friendly hotel. Ideal for what we needed to attend a party overnight. Room was clean, but a little too warm with no Air conditioning. Breakfast was good. Would book again.

Room in a House
This is more of a house with rooms than a hotel. We didn't feel like we had much privacy, and we could hear everything going on outside the room. What I was particularly upset about was the reservation process. When I made the reservation, I chose the cancellable reservation, with the option to pay at the hotel since I wasn't sure that I wanted to stay there. My credit card was immediately charged, however, and I wasn't sure that if I cancelled the reservation, that I would get my money back. To add insult to injury, I was given a receipt at the hotel that said that I agreed to be charged in USD and not in GBP, and that I agreed to a 3.5% conversion fee. I certainly did not agree to any of this and disputed the charge with my credit card company. Based on this alone I would not go back.

Excellent small hotel close to the town centre
The hotel was easy to find and being only a 10 minute walk, relatively close to the town centre. Everything was clearly explained during check in before I was shown to my room. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities and toiletries provided. The breakfast in the morning was excellent; cereals, fruit and toast along with a full English being on offer. I'd definitely stay there again if I'm ever looking for a room in the Chesterfield area.

Lovely staff. Very clean and comfortable room. Great Breakfast. Easy parking and close to the centre. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on which way you look at it the weather was scorching and the room was super hot. Perhaps a sheet only for the bed and a fan in the room? That being said we would definitely book this hotel again.

I stayed here for 1 night to attend a nearby event. Location is good - a 10 - 15 minute walk from the town centre and railway station From check in it was clear that this was a really friendly and accommodating place while also being quick and efficient. Room itself was fine - Comfortable bed and amenities as expected. Very good breakfast...good selection of by cereals / fruit and full hot selection. Would be glad to return if I have reason to be in the local area.

Very nice hotel a short level walk to town
The hotel was super, from the very warm and informative welcome, the comfortable room and bed, the welcoming breakfast and the ability to leave the car in the car park after check out. Minor wrinkles were the very compact shower and toilet, the lack of juice at breakfast and the variable breakfast service, but they did not detract from the overall experience.

Rude Welcome which spoilt the stay.
Chose this hotel as it was well rated. I arrived early afternoon and parked in the near empty carpark. Opened my car door to hear a voice yell across the carpark "You can't park there!" I couldn't see why not as the car beside me had parked the same way. It too only took up two spaces, but there were plenty left. I was not in any way obstructing any one. I moved. Then heard yelled across the carpark "Name!" I gave it though shocked at the way I had been spoken to. No Welcome to the Abbeydale Hotel. Please could you park your car over here,,,, We then went into the reception to find the person shouting at us was the landlady. We were told she had taken the money from my card. Strange as I had not authorised this til I saw the room. No, would you like to pay... She then half ushered us to the stairs and told us to go up and open the room ourselves. I believe the courtesy is to show the customers the room and facilities. She then scampered off. At breakfast … no "Good Morning" My cooked breakfast was taken, then delivered whilst still eating my second bowl of cereal. No apology, just plonked on the table. The order was incorrect, the plate was cold and the contents were nearly all cold. We got the impression we were not welcome, so we packed up and left. Think they need some manners and taught how to treat a customer.

Very clean room bed a lot more comfy than it looked but bathroom was a bit of a nightmare toilet was a tight squeeze and shower didn't work. Breakfast was probably one of the best we've had in a b&b. A room with a better bathroom would have made it almost perfect. About a 10 minute walk into town so location was ok.

1st choice Abbeydale !
Our last minute booking due to family emergency was handled in an efficient and very pleasant way. It was our 1st time at the Abbeydale and will be our 1st choice of accommodation should we need it. Our room was light, well equipped with everything you would ever need. The bed was comfortable and the refreshments of excellent quality. Breakfast could be improved in the tomato department , fresh not tinned or squashed !

Good value for money hotel
The hotel has only recently been taken over by new owners and they are very busy making improvements. However, they made us feel very welcome, the facilities in the room were good and the breakfast was good. The hotel is in a quiet position but within easy walking distance of the town centre. Overall we enjoyed our short stay and it was excellent value for money.
