Nice LocationPosted Jun 5, 2014
Pros: We liked the location and the comfort of the room.
Cons: Include breakfast with the price of the room.
Location: We visited Haddon and Hardwick Halls, both worth seeing but see Hardwick if you only have time for one.
We enjoyed our night in the Cavendish Hotel and it was great to be able to walk over to Chatsworth. The staff were very pleasant and our young waiter was very entertaining.

Nice hotel, pity about the WiFiPosted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: The Hotel and surrounds
Location: Chatsworth House, Bakewell village
Great hotel, fantastic surrounds, awesome dining. Being in the grounds of the historic Chatsworth house it is set in the quaint village of Baslow. Unfortunately, the free hotel WiFi let this great hotel down. It was patchy, connected/disconnected and generally was unusable. If WiFi isn't required, then this is a fantastic hotel.

Driven down from Scotland - a V long day and the Hotel was a very welcome sight. Made extremely welcome at reception and then in the bar and restaurant - food was superb. Room view was beautiful and very comfortable.

If you're looking for a luxurious, relaxing getaway, this is the place to stay. My wife and I stayed here mid-April and were instantly impressed when we arrived. The hotel itself is fantastic, great location, our room was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The food in the restaurant is top class. One of my favourite things from our stay was the quality of service. Right from when we stepped through the door, staff were friendly, attentive and couldn't do enough for you to help maximise the enjoyment of your stay. If we could have stayed longer, we would have.

We chose a deluxe room and it's was excellent. Service was fantastic and the staff were really good. Bar man was particular good in helping chose a local brew.

Lovely hotel with cosy lounge and great location.Posted Jan 6, 2014
Pros: Lovely, cosy lounge area and very helpful staff. Our superior room was delightful - very quiet and spacious with a fantastic view of Chatsworth Park.
Location: Excellent, central location for exploring the area, the mills, walking in the Peaks and Chatsworth House.
We loved staying at this up-market hotel and it makes an ideal base for walking or exploring the peak District by car. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar/lounge area is perfect for a quiet drink before dinner, with log fire, comfy chairs and a lovely peaceful atmosphere. We ate on one evening in the hotel's candlelit restaurant, which was very nice but expensive, and it is worth noting that there are 3 good restaurants in the village (walking distance) as alternatives if you want some variety. We did have breakfast a couple of times in the hotel, but only the continental (£9.50) as we felt that £18+ for the cooked breakfast was a bit steep. The Cafe on the Green (1 minutes walk) does an excellent cooked breakfast for half the price! There is a very good walk, which takes about half an hour, from the hotel accross the fields to Chatsworth House and, as we were there in December, we saw the house dressed for Christmas - a wonderful festive treat!

Our Favourite PlacePosted Dec 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
We've stayed at this hotel several times and can't find fault. The restaurant is wonderful and the manager Tim is attentive and pleasant. We got engaged here and there couldn't have been a more perfect setting for us. Don't be put off by the 3* award. It must only be because there is no pool / gym etc. The furnishings and decor are tasteful and the service is second to none.
