not far from city centrePosted Mar 6, 2014
Cons: better mattresses
Location: 15 mins walk into city centre
A good place if you just want a reasonable value hotel for the night. My only criticism is that my mattress was too soft / possibly a worn out. they need to invest in better and firmer mattresses

Comfortable, though a little tired...Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: All staff were friendly and breakfast was nice. Our room was comfortable.
Cons: Tired/dated decor beyond the ground floor. Updated facilities within rooms.
Location: I enjoy Derby as a city and the hotel is not too far from the centre. The road system, however, is a little quirky.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, and our room was very clean and comfortable. Looking around, the actual building itself is a little tired except for the ground floor where customers are first greeted/welcomed. Some facilities and most of the decor (again, above the ground floor) is dated. Whilst this didn't detract from the comfort of the stay, it did make me reluctant to award the hotel anything higher than 3* overall - and I feel that may even be a little generous for more particular hotel guests.

Satisfactory on all countsPosted Oct 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and comfortable if maybe in need of a makeover. The staff were attentive and efficient and the breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. The only downside was the parking arrangements being down a 1 in 4 gradient hill ! Having said that, we would definitely stay there again .

Style over substancePosted Jul 28, 2013
It served it's purpose but is was a case of style over substance. The hotel was very smart inside and the room was lovely. The staff were very polite and helpful. However the advertised free wi-fi was virtually impossible to hook into. We had booked for a continental breakfast rather than the full one as we had a busy day planned. We thought we were going to get cereals, friut, yogurt and 'a choice of Danish pastries.' What we actually got was cereal, yogurts and one piece of toast each! The restaurant in the evening was lovely but it took over an hour for our dinner to arrive because the chef mixed up the orders! Don't email, I never got a response. Also if you want the special offer in the restaurant (residents 2 course meal for £16.99 or 3 courses for 19.99) make sure you state that very explicitly because you don't get it otherwise even though you can charge your meal to your room which must mean you're a resident.
