Style over substancePosted Jul 28, 2013
It served it's purpose but is was a case of style over substance. The hotel was very smart inside and the room was lovely. The staff were very polite and helpful. However the advertised free wi-fi was virtually impossible to hook into. We had booked for a continental breakfast rather than the full one as we had a busy day planned. We thought we were going to get cereals, friut, yogurt and 'a choice of Danish pastries.' What we actually got was cereal, yogurts and one piece of toast each! The restaurant in the evening was lovely but it took over an hour for our dinner to arrive because the chef mixed up the orders! Don't email, I never got a response. Also if you want the special offer in the restaurant (residents 2 course meal for £16.99 or 3 courses for 19.99) make sure you state that very explicitly because you don't get it otherwise even though you can charge your meal to your room which must mean you're a resident.

My third time staying there.Posted May 21, 2013
Pros: Location- near downtown
Cons: No restaurants nearby to go to in the evening.
Location: Within about 10 minutes walking distance of downtown - not much else around it in the residential neighbourhood.
I felt very comfortable as a single woman staying here alone. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist, whenever it was needed.

Out of town and very run downPosted Mar 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
The decoration and internal and external fabric of the building are very tired and in need of investment. The room which I had was very small, there were screws in the main wall for a picture, but no picture. A hole next to the window where the tie back for the curtain should have been fastened, the bath panel was loose and showing the wooden fixtures behind it and the paint was worn from the toilet seat. The decoration was well past its sell by date and the car park was really neglected. The bed was clean but uncomfortable and the pillows were like bricks. However staff were friendly and breakfast was OK.

Ideal for overnight stayPosted Jan 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was clean and warm (very) although the hotel would benefit from a modern touch. The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble when asked. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate, lots of choice, freshly prepared and topped up frequently. My party stayed here when visiting the Panto at the Assembly Rooms in Derby. Just a short 20 minute walk gets you right into the centre of town. If you prefer a taxi, these can be arranged at reception and cost just a few pounds for a 5-10 minute ride.
awlfulPosted Nov 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
In a rough area, bed old and really uncomfortable, room tiny with loads of stains on carpet. You couldn't get anything to eat after check in at 2pm until 17.30pm and after 20.45pm food stopped and the hotel was in middle of nowhere in a rough area, we had to ring dial a pizza! Plus breakfst was only warm, been left in trays keeping warm fir ages, dry and disgusting! Poor choice of cereals etc. They offer free newspaper, asked us on chek in what paper we wanted fir next day, I ordered one, on check out they charged me s pound, said local paper free on tables in bar!! I stay in derby once a month, thus has got to be worst hotel I've ever stayed in !!

Will be ok when not a building sitePosted Oct 20, 2012
The room I was allocated was on a floor that was a building site and was not made up or clean. I was moved to another room which was ok but not well laid out. Receptionist very helpful and friendly.
