“A hidden gem”
I don't normally write reviews, but in this case thought I had to pass on what a great little find this was. No really in walking distance to any town, but that suited us perfectly. Great location for walks into Maccesfield Forest and to "Cheshire's Matterhorn". Great food, great beer. The next time we're looking for a walking weekend in the vicinity we'll definately be staying again :-)
“Peace and comfort”
Delightful quiet location - just down the hill from the Cat and Fiddle but off the main road. Really comfortable room - quiet large with an en suite bath and seperate shower. Good quality evening meal - ate far too much. Full English breakfast. What's not to like!!
“Will stay here again”
Excellent accommodation, dinner was good value, amazing coutryside nearby
“Very Pleased”
The propietor, Adrian, and his wife made us very welcome. The food and our accommodation was very good.
“A superb find”
A fantastic small hotel in a great location. There are several local walks and a great base for Peak District walking generally. The Hotel has very friendly staff, and excellent food with an amazing menu (I struggled to chose as all the items sounded so good). You even get some complementary sherry and chocolates in your room to help you unpack!
“Cosy, high quality B&B”
Had a great stay in the Stanley Arms. We used it as a meeting point for two old friends who live either side of the Peak District and stayed in the Torgate (twin) room. Very pleasant and comfortable except for the fact that the window is small and high up (converted barn) so we couldn't enjoy the great views. Everything you could need in the room - toiletries were a nice touch, as were the sherry and chocs! Food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast which was similarly yummy. The bar is lovely and cosy - we loved the open fires. Staff were very friendly (including the dog, George!). Very handy for Buxton or for local walks. We hope to be back with our husbands! Thank you for a great break.
“Very enjoyable stay.”
Staff were very welcoming.Bedrooms are in a separate building from the restaurant and bar.so were quiet and we slept very well.Food was excellent in the restaurant and for breakfast there was a wide choice of menu.
“Great B&B”
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room and very tasty good quality evening meals on the menu.
“The undisputable choice”
This is not your average B&B. No, a hundred times no. Here you have high quality hospitality, in well furnished, super-comfortable accommodation, provided by very professional and kind hosts. Good, coordinated fixtures (not cheap), well thought out, excellent bedding, powerful shower, toiletries provided, cooked breakfast (good bacon - none of that fatty stuff, excellent mushrooms, juicy sausages, hmmm yum) all there. I loved the place, and was impressed with the service. If you want a good night's rest, in quiet surroundings, an excellent bar, top hospitality, and a sumptuous breakfast, then you cannot possibly look anywhere else, as there is just no other competition. Gracious hostess even went the extra mile to drop me in town to avoid being late for my meeting. Superb touch, and quite grateful. Do I recommend??? 1000 per cent.
“Excellent food”
A very enjoyable stay. Nice touch having a decanter of sherry in the room for pre dinner drink. Don't go if you are trying to lose weight!
