Pros: Location, cleanliness, bar is nice
Cons: Gym-weights fixes & need a few more equipment essentials, bed firmness, vents in bathroom to let steam escape, extend the bar time an hour
Location: The mall is great if its your thing, seems to be an area with more money-safe. Away from noise of interstate/airport. New development.
Stayed here for a trade show 3 years in a row now, and my opinions are declining each time. -First the curtains in the rooms look like the flag of Spain, sideways; dated. -My bed was also a rock...I believe a firm mattress is good in general but a sleeping bag on concrete would have been more comfortable. -In the pool area, the sign says "first aid kit located at front desk" which isn't exactly wise. -Pool times are confusing, door says one thing, and the pool signs say another. -The main pool was freezing cold (despite that it's an indoor pool), but the kid pool was warm. -My biggest issue is with the dumbbells in the gym, two sets still have loose weights on the end. I complained about this last year, even bringing one up front to show them. Apparently they fixed half of them or they broke and they had to replace them, but left the others in that dangerous state. Skull-crushers isn't just an awesome name for an exercise, its truth in naming. -Location is at a comfortable distance from the interstate and in a good shopping area. -I'm baffled there is no bathroom fans, in the new north addition. In prior 2 years in the older section, the ceiling were suffering moisture damage. -Kurig coffee is fine, but 16oz of coffee for two people is a bit stingy, if you can get more it would be nice if there was a memo somewhere. Unfortunately since management seems to be letting things slide here and there as the facility ages, I'm less likely to stay here next year.

Too far from I-80 and no free breakfast

They said they were right off of I-80. They are not!! There are other hotels with free breakfast - theirs breakfast cost over $10/person and as we walked by we saw the breakfast - it is exactly the same as the free breakfasts at other hotels. We won't be back.

A Super Comfortable Stay

Pros: I liked the beautiful room. Also that it was close to the mall but out of the hustle & bustle of traffic & noise since it was off to the side.
Cons: Better signage since there are so many halls & elevators. Pool ideally should be more centrally located.
Location: The Jordan Creek Mall is right down the road so there is easy access to stores & restaurants galore as well as the movie theater.
We were in Des Moines to attend the State Fair & Jordan Creek Mall. The Hilton Garden was very close to the Mall. Check in was quick & easy. The staff was very polite & informative. Our room was beautiful, roomy & so comfortable. I assume the hotel was added on to by what the girl at check in said. We were in the newer part of the hotel. Therefore, the pool was quite a walk from our room. Still it was a very nice pool & hot tub. I felt safe staying there. We used our keys to get into the side doors from outside. The mall is literally right down the street. The employee at check-out was very nice as well. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Lovely new hotel

Pros: Spotlessly clean rooms and very friendly staff.
Location: Close to restaurants and a short drive to downtown Des Moines.
Stayed for three nights in this excellent, clean and modern hotel

close to nice shopping and dinigh

I appreciated that when I called prior to arriving to see if I could check in early because we have two small children and wanted to plan their naps, the lady at the front desk, I believe her name was Whitney, was super nice and even knew my last name before I said it. She was super friendly and said our room was all ready for us. Both staff when we checked it were wonderful! Much appreciated. Will definitely come back again when we are in Des Moines.

Bad experience.

Hard to find entrance. Not very well marked. Man tried to get into our room at 5 a.m. and had to call security. Was not apologized to or refunded money for terrible stay at this hotel. Was given $10 to spend at store. Not acceptable!

Had some problem with check in. Were told our room wasn't ready yet. Sat there for over a hour while many others came in and were given rooms immediately. Finally a manager came and we got a room right away. Otherwise was very impressed with stay. Had a lot of kids staying there but was really guiet.
