Many of Guadeloupe’s highlights can be found close to Deshaies, so it is a great place to base yourself while you are in town. Two sights that should be on every visitor’s to-do list is the fabulous La Grande-Anse and the much-loved Plage des Caraibes. Also worth checking out are the Plage de la Malendure and Destreland.
To really get a feel for Guadeloupe, take a trip to one of its many cultural destinations. Visit some of the noteworthy exhibit spaces and museums including the Musee Saint-John Perse in Pointe-a-Pitre and Schoelcher Museum.
If the sun is out, do what the locals do and appreciate the local natural destinations. Grab your camera and enjoy the natural reserves for which this area is well known, like the Guadeloupe National Park in Basse-Terre.
Finding somewhere suitable to stay within the Deshaies area is easy. For a good night’s sleep it’s hard to go past the Saint John Perse, Pointe-a-Pitre, the Langley Resort Fort Royal, and the Habitation Grande Anse.
