    Geography

California is very much a land of contrasts with varied geography that runs the gamut from parched, sunbaked deserts in the south to temperate, misty forests and snow-capped mountain ranges in the north. The state is home to portions of the beautiful Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges, including the towering spire of Mount Whitney, which stands as the tallest peak in the Lower 48. The Coast Ranges, famed for the towering coast redwoods that thrive in the mountainous terrain, run along the western portion of the state. Between the mountain ranges, the Central Valley is home to both bucolic farmlands and inland cities such as Sacramento. Bordering the Pacific Ocean, the western coast of California is world-renowned for its unique terrain and stunning vistas. With so many different climates and environments, there truly are resorts in California for just about everyone. Let Expedia.com help you find the perfect fit for your West Coast escape.

we got in late and they did not have the room we wanted. We needed two beds. They upgraded us to a suite. It only had one bed. It does not mater how big the room is if it only has one bed. And it was strange that the carpet in the room was damp. Everything in the room was damp.

"A pretty upscale hotel that is dog friendly."
To find a dog friendly hotel is tough. To find one that is not a one star hotel even tougher. This hotel allows pets and is a great place to stay. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room had great space and was very clean. The hallways and room doors did show a little age. A parking garage is attached to the hotel which adds convenience. We also had breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and it was pretty tasty.

"Comfortable room, excellent service, great food!"
I was there for three days during an on-site conference. For the conference the staff was excellent, prompt, and professional. The food that was served, prepared on-site, was very very good. Conference facilities were modern, clean and well equipped. From the overnight perspective my room was very spacious. The bathroom was clean, enjoying both a tub and separate shower. Bed was very cozy, slept extremely well. I had a flight delay and arrived much later than they had expected. I was marked for early check-in at noon, but did not arrive until 7:30pm. I was offered a free upgrade from my standard room to a king suite, and was given access to the business class level floor for their Imperial Lounge offering free breakfast and daily happy hour. Needless to say you "won me at Hello". Was a very pleasant surprise after a long day of travel and very generous offer. The next time I find myself in San Francisco I will return to the Nikko Hotel! Great job Nikko family!

    "Pleasant hotel in good location"
We were invited to an evening function at the Contemporary Jewish Museum and wanted a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel nearby. The Park Central fit our needs very well, as it was in the same block as the museum. It was also reasonably convenient to the BART, which allowed us to travel to the hotel from the airport and back without having to rent a car. We ate a good, if rather expensive, meal in MaSO, the hotel restaurant, and went for breakfast to La Boulange, which was a block or two away. The room itself was comfortable and we slept well.

    "Best Hotel in San Diego"
Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights of our honeymoon. It was in a fantastic location, and was a very grand looking hotel. We had a room overlooking the harbour on a high floor which was lovely. You won't get a nicer, more comfy or cleaner room anywhere. It was the best out of 4 hotels we stayed in during our honeymoon. The staff knew it was our honeymoon and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and free breakfast. No other hotel did this for us. It is located near bars and shops and just down the road from the USS Midway. If you get a chance to stay there then do it.

Liked the hotel history, crushingly small room. Are the pillows original to the hotel? Staff was friendly, the spa was quaint and the massage therapist were great. Currant had a good brunch as well.
