September through October is an ideal time to visit Disneyland®, Knott’s Berry Farm®, Universal Studios®, and many of the state's other popular tourist attractions as the weather is still comfortable, but there are fewer crowds and slightly lower prices. Fall is also a great time to visit some of the state's desert attractions, such as Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Park. In the winter, California's numerous ski resorts serve as the perfect destinations for hitting the slopes and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

    Geography

California is very much a land of contrasts with varied geography that runs the gamut from parched, sunbaked deserts in the south to temperate, misty forests and snow-capped mountain ranges in the north. The state is home to portions of the beautiful Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges, including the towering spire of Mount Whitney, which stands as the tallest peak in the Lower 48. The Coast Ranges, famed for the towering coast redwoods that thrive in the mountainous terrain, run along the western portion of the state. Between the mountain ranges, the Central Valley is home to both bucolic farmlands and inland cities such as Sacramento. Bordering the Pacific Ocean, the western coast of California is world-renowned for its unique terrain and stunning vistas. With so many different climates and environments, there truly are resorts in California for just about everyone. Let Expedia.com help you find the perfect fit for your West Coast escape.

    "Nice location & great rooms"
Checked in late at 10:30pm and the hotel did not have us under the correct name. Also, the hotel staff put us into a room with a trundle bed when we purchased a "Deluxe" room for all nights. They did make it right and upgraded us to a higher floor with a better view. The hotel was conveniently located near Moscone, restaurants, and bars. There was a slight artificial aroma when you walked into the hotel, like they tried to appear like a Starwood property but was overdone. The cleaning staff were friendly and very helpful.

    "Great for Families"
Once you get used to the sprawling lay-out of the facilities, it is pretty easy to navigate your way around. It isn't like a traditional property where everything is in one building, in fact almost everything is in 'another building'. But with 2 pools to choose from, large outdoor hot tub, well equipped gym / spa, and a variety of room formats to choose from, it makes from an entertaining stay. It was also half the rate of the other properties available at the time of our travel which was over a long weekend.
