Canada Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

From the snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies to bustling cities like Toronto and Vancouver, you can't go wrong with a vacation in Canada. Since it's a nation of considerable size, Canada resorts will look very different depending on where you visit. On the East Coast, the Maritime region has beautiful Atlantic coastline resorts, which serve as an entrance to the wildlife of the St. Lawrence Seaway, like the snowy white beluga whale. The old-world charm of Montreal and Quebec City are as close to Europe as you can get without leaving North America. The opportunities to enjoy the water and cities along the Great Lakes are a great reason to visit Ontario. The Plains states offer remote beauty with unique sights that few have been privileged to see. The Canadian Rockies offer world-class skiing and also played host to the 2008 winter Olympic village. Finally, the temperate climate, extreme wildlife like Grizzlies and Orcas, and hip cities like Victoria and Vancouver make a trip to British Columbia a great option as well. No matter what your taste, Canada has something unforgettable to offer, and Expedia.com is a great way to discover these opportunities for yourself.

    Best Seasons to Visit

There are must-see locations in Canada all year-round. Winter is a great time to rent a ski chalet in Banff or attend the winter ice carnival in Quebec City. Springtime is ideal for seeing the blooms at Butchart Gardens in Victoria or visiting the home of Anne of Green Gables on Prince Edward Island. Summer is perfect for watersports on Lake Ontario and Lake Superior. You can also get great deals from hotels in Vancouver for your family to whale-watch the three pods of resident orcas nearby. Finally, the fall colors throughout Ontario are vibrant and unforgettable. If you are a sports, theater, or music fan, you can hit major world cities like Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto any time of year and take advantage of countless opportunities like the Phantom of the Opera theater house or the 2008 Olympic stadiums in Vancouver.

    What to Do

The variety of activities in Canada is as wide as the country itself. Outdoor options include hiking, horseback riding, and observing wildlife. Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria are just a few of the major cities offering a dose of sports, theater, music, and other cultural entertainment. Watersports like fishing, surfing, kayaking and more abound in the hundreds of lakes and rivers throughout the nation as well as its two oceans, the Atlantic and Pacific. Banff is a great place to see extreme snowboarding competitions in the winter and mountain-bike trails in the summer. Not sure what you want to do next? Canada hotels can update you on what there is to do nearby and help you plan your itinerary. At Expedia.com, we provide opportunities for you to explore all of these options and more, tailoring your trip to include exactly what you and your family love to do most.

    Getting Here

Because of its close proximity to the U.S., flights to Canada are not always necessary. If you live in a border state, it's often just a short drive. Of course, there is a great transportation system consisting of airports, trains, buses, and roads throughout the more populated areas of the country. In the West, Vancouver and Victoria are the major cities. Centrally, Toronto and Ottawa are the ways in. Montreal is the major city in the Northeast and serves as a great way to get into the Maritime region of the nation. Otherwise, the Maritime area can be visited by taking a short drive from Boston or Portland, Maine. If you're more interested in remote fishing or hunting trips, it may be best to enter via Anchorage, Alaska. Visit Expedia.com to see which Canadian destination is right for you.

    "Nice but..."
We had an awful nights sleep because we got penalized for not booking directly through the hotel... they refused us a cot saying no room (there was) (they gave us a small room because of the discount) It is the choice of the hotel to let other companies book through them for a discount the customer should not be looked down upon for using a choice the hotel themselves have okayed. It happens through most hotels so I wouldn't say they were horrible but it definitely affected the whole stay negatively, they shouldn't give us the choice if they're just going to look down on us for using it.

Very helpful staff, the Moda has attached : a gourmet restaurant, a bar , a sports bar and a liquor store. All very convenient. Centrally located to Hop On Hop Off tour buses. The room was disappointing, with no comfortable chairs and an odd placement for toilet paper. Get it before you sit down. Good bed. Slow elevators. Overpriced with no included breakfast.

We also like to relax. The Delta gives us the comfort we require. We have visited many hotels in our 40 plus years of marriage and the Delta is among the finest.

Vacation stay. Good location but next time will stay closer to Old Montreal. Strangely, taxis must come to the side door, where no bell staff is ever stationed! Private vehicles may go to the front door. Therefore, coming from the airport with your bags, you're on your own; 14 steps, 2 sets of manual (and heavy) doors and a short walk to reception----on your own. Small but annoying welcome. After that, it was fine. Sunday brunch was esp good.
